3 Clown Monty was a release that was slightly unexpected, at least from the typically upbeat crew at Play’n GO. Do they fit in with a happy-go-lucky cast that includes the Reactoonz, Hugo, the cheerful Bees of Honey Rush and the enigmatic Sparky & Shortz? No, but we love them anyway. We and many others appreciated these comedic reprobates, and a sequel is very welcome.

Of course, gameplay and potential contributed to the success of 3 Clown Monty as much as its entertaining theme did, but how does it do in that regard? The Bonus Prize Pick proved to be quite engaging, and the base game didn’t feel at all monotonous. Free Spins in 3 Clown Monty II proved to be very capable, yet it’s not as capable on paper as its predecessor. At 10,000x the bet, it’s half as capable as the first, though Play’n GO aren’t the best at putting their money where their mouth is with max wins, and we doubt that anyone has ever hit 20,000x on the original.

Overall, 3 Clown Monty II doesn’t reinvent the original in an overly significant way, but it’s still a day at the circus that you wouldn’t forget.
