Buffalo Rising is another slot from Blueprint gaming that uses the recently licenced MEGAWAYS™. It is very similar in theme to the mega popular US slot Buffalo Gold. Also added in this version (like Spinal Tap) is the Buy a Bonus feature.
The slot offers two ways to play the normal way and the buy a bonus feature. The buy a bonus will cost a x100 your bet value and will give a bonus for this purchase.
In the base game you have two features. First one is the random symbols which starts off as a Prairie Sunset icon and will all transfer into one chosen symbol. Secondly to trigger the bonus you need 4 or more purple diamonds which starts the Free Spins feature.
4 Diamonds – 5 Spins with 10x Multiplier, 10 Spins with 5x Multiplier, 15 Spins with 1x Multiplier and Mystery Choice.
5 Diamonds – 6 Spins with 10x Multiplier, 12 Spins with 5x Multiplier, 19 Spins with 1x Multiplier and Mystery Choice.
6 Diamonds – 7 Spins with 10x Multiplier, 14 Spins with 5x Multiplier, 23 Spins with 1x Multiplier and Mystery Choice.
Unknown what this will go up to as of writing this review.
You can choose whatever option you want, if you choose mystery then it will give you the chance to pick any of the 3 spins amount and the 3 multiplier amounts. This can change the game in an instant. The selected option will start, and it then follows the very familiar Bonanza model of increasing the multiplier by 1 on each win. There is also the chance to retrigger extra spins by getting 3 purple diamonds in the top four boxes for 5 extra spins. If your lucky enough to get 4 purple diamonds, then it will be an extra 10 spins.
With the game being set with 6 reels, 8 rows (possible) this combination can give an insane 117,694 Megaways. This means an insane potential with a maximum possible 23 spins with 10x start multiplier to go nuts.
The bonus buy on this game is what a lot of people who like Bonanza or Diamond Mine have probably wanted for ages. This means we are going to see a lot more bonuses going and therefore a lot of big wins on this slot. 100x to buy the Bonus seems fair when you play this type of game and it can take a huge amount of spins to bonus normally.
This game has Megaways which always means a high volatile nature to this slot. Now they have added the Mystery Choice which adds even more volatility to an already volatile slot. So, it should show more potential than even Bonanza, this will be proven or not in due time. The fact you seem to have more dead spins in the bonus suggests how volatile this is likely to be. The overall potential of what the bonus can offer it won’t be long to see a few 1000x, 2000x or even higher!
This is what we would call a kick in the nuts for BTG as the bonus buy was a BTG idea and the Megaways is BTG idea but there isn’t one yet for this style of slot.

It feels like Blueprint have basically beaten BTG with their own idea. ThisIS going to be popular as these slots are slot fan favourites, so adding a bonus buy has been long sought after.
The graphics and sound as usual are good but the concept is easy to see where it was originally from. Any slot fan will know the Buffalo slots from Aristocrat in America, this whole look and feel is from that range of slots. Even the choices of free spins are a typical part of these Buffalo games, so to those of you who know these slots its not new. It is new however with combining it to BTG model of Bonanza and buying bonuses. This mean an increased volatility in the bonus and time will tell if this slot does live up to that potential.
The trend of these Megaways slots is increasing with BTG licencing others now, Blueprint is making the most of this opportunity. We feel like the Megaways thing is becoming overdone and could weaken BTG as a provider. It could however be a great way to see more innovation around the mechanic; time will tell. However, it is hard how all these favourite mechanics wont be a hit with the slotting audience!!!
