Christmas Krampus Slot Review 2024

Get ready for a lashing from Santa’s evil sidekick Krampus in Light & Wonder’s latest release, Christmas Krampus!

Originating from Central Europe, Krampus is a horned demonic figure that pairs up with Santa once a year whilst he visits children. According to legend, Krampus is the son of Hel, the Norse God of the Underworld.

On the evening of the 5th December every year (also known as Krampus Night), Santa and Krampus pay a visit to children in their homes. It is said that nice children recieve a gift from Santa, whilst naughty children are swatted with birch sticks as punishment for their behaviour.

Other sources suggest that Krampus would either eat the naughty children or drag them to Hell. On the morning of the 6th December (St Nicholas Day), children will either wake to find gifts from Santa or tend to their wounds.

As we venture into the world of Krampus, will we be awarded with gifts or punishment? Let’s play on and find out!

Present Symbols

Another symbol to pay attention to is the Present symbols, which will appear with a random Cash Value of x2, x3, x5, x10, x15, x20, x25, x30, x40 and x50 your current bet.

These cash values are only winnable during the Free Spins round. During the base game, the Wild symbol will only substitute for Present symbols in relation to paylines.

Christmas Krampus Free Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters across the reels in any position triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 6, 8 and 10 Free Spins respectively.

Once active, the Krampus symbol comes into play which acts as Wild, substituting for all High and Low-paying symbols in the paytable. No more than 3 Krampus symbols can land on the reels at any one time.

During Free Spins, Krampus symbols will collect all adjacent Cash Prizes from the Present symbols. The Krampus symbol will remain on the reel set and a Respin begins.

Each present Krampus symbol will move one position to the left, collecting all adjacent Cash Prizes as it goes. Cash Prizes on present symbols will be collected by more than one Krampus symbol.

Respins will end when all Krampus symbols have dropped off the left-most reel. All collected Cash Prizes will be stashed in the Stash Meter to the left of the reel set and added to the total win at the end of the Free Spins round.

During Respins, the Free Spins count will remain the same and wil start again once all Krampus symbols have left the reel set. The Free Spins round cannot be retriggered.

Christmas Krampus: Our Verdict

Krampus is said to be this nightmarish Christmas devil and seeing as we’re all adults here, Light & Wonder could have portrayed Krampus in a much scarier light in our opinion.

The base game is also quite tame when compared to other Light & Wonder titles, leaving a lot of wiggle room for improvement in the way of Features and Modifiers.

The base game may leave a bad taste in your mouth, but the Free Spins round soon makes up for this, and it’s here that you get to see Krampus in action. The idea of a Cash Prize collection feature is not entirely new to us, which we’ve seen in Stash & Grab Frenzy previously, but it’s an exciting feature nonetheless and one we appreciate.

Although Krampus isn’t as scary as we invisioned him to be, Christmas Krampus is a great game to get behind thanks to the impressive 40,000x max win cap that’s up for grabs.
