Rich Raptors Slot Review 2023
Rich Raptors from Fantasma Games takes us to an alternate reality where Dinosaurs reign supreme in a surprisingly civilised society.
Imagine for a moment what evolution would have had in store for Dinosaurs had they not become extinct. Fantasma had, and in their world, the once primitive Dinosaurs settled in a city similar to New York. Lady Liberty looks more scaly than usual, and perhaps not quite as elegant, but everything else seems to be rather humanistic.
The characters look rather suave if we do say so ourselves with a 1920s aesthetic, complete with the obligatory fedoras and suspenders. So far, Rich Raptors has the right look, although we’d be lying if we said we didn’t think of Push Gaming‘s Dinopolis when we first loaded it up.
Dinopolis proved to be an immersive and interesting world, but is Rich Raptors?
Rich Raptors Slot – The Base Game and Features
Rich Raptors is a 6-reel slot with up 4,096 ways to win.
Forming a win requires at least 3 of any identical symbol to match from left to right on adjacent reels, regardless of their position on each of their respective reels.
The highest-paying symbols are the dinosaurs, with the female pink dinosaur as the highest-paying symbol. Following her is the purple, yellow, blue and green dinosaurs and low-paying symbols are simply card suit symbols.
There is also a Wild symbol, which substitutes for all regular symbols.
So far it sounds fairly standard, but things do ‘heat’ up a bit with the Meteor Symbol
Meteor Shower Feature
Sadly the Dinosaurs will meet their demise in the same way as real-world dinosaurs did, albeit millions of years later.
The Meteor Symbol may land on reels 4, 5 and 6 during the Base Game. The Meteor Symbol has a number between 1 and 3, which indicates how many times it will activate the Meteor Shower Feature.
On each activation, a random number of non-winning regular symbols are destroyed and the number on the Meteor symbol decreases by 1. New symbols fall into place, creating possible new winning opportunities.
During this feature, Wild, bonus and winning-symbols are protected from the Meteor shower. The feature continues until the Meteor count reaches 0.
Rich Raptors Slot – Free Spins
Landing 3 bonus symbols in the Base Game awards 10 Free Spins.
There are two multipliers during free spins, a normal multiplier, and a persistent multiplier. The Meteor Shower feature in Free Spins will increase both multipliers. Both multipliers start from x1, and increase by 1 for each symbol destroyed by the Meteor Shower
Pay way wins are multiplied by the normal multiplier ad the end of free spins, and it also resets between spins. The persistent multiplier does not, as the name suggests, but it’s capped at x100.
Bonus symbols are collected and added to a meter during Free Spins. When 3 bonus symbols are collected, 3 additional spins are awarded. When 6 are collected, then another 3 spins are awarded. Once 10 bonus symbols are collected, 4 spins are awarded and the persistent multiplier is activated, deactivating the normal multiplier in the process.
From this point on, all wins are multiplied by the persistent multiplier instead.
Rich Raptors Slot – Bonus Buy
Those outside of the UK can use a Bonus Buy Feature, which costs 80x the bet.
The RTP for the buy feature is 96.30%.
Rich Raptors Slot – Our Verdict
Rich Raptors is a well-built slot with plenty of potential and appeal, but it isn’t without its issues.
The Meteor Shower feature can feel slightly full in the Base Game because no multipliers are active. It does nothing more than open up the game for additional winning opportunities, or to possibly drop in another scatter symbol to trigger Free Spins. We’d love it if it did more during the Base Game and we don’t think it would have been unreasonable to give it the same normal multiplier function as Free Spins.
Free Spins is much better, but it can be slightly frustrating at times. Fantasma is seemingly rather fond of a collection mechanic whereby the best version of the game is locked until the requirements are met. We saw it in Cloud Corsairs, and here again with a persistent multiplier locked away.
It can definitely build excitement, but it’s frustrating when you’re miles away from the goal. Scatters do land quite regularly so there is a chance to climb fairly high up the ladder, but it’s hard not to think of that persistent multiplier as a cop out to some degree. Many slots have multipliers that are persistent throughout, so the thought of having to unlock it seems as backwards as it is exciting.
The Meteor Feature may have made the prospect of a constant multiplier unviable, and admittedly the normal multiplier can climb quite high on its own. Many will be on the fence as we are, and personal experience will sway your opinion more than our views.
If you’re more into statistics, then the maximum win might sway you. At its best, Rich Raptors is capable of up to 8,024x
Overall, Rich Raptors is quite good, but it could have done with some fine-tuning to make it great.
