Sparky & Shortz Hidden Joules Base Game and Features

Sparky & Shortz Hidden Joules is a 7×7 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. Winning combinations are formed when 5 or more of the same symbols land either Horizontally or Vertically to each other.

The minimum bet available here is £.€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.20% and a max win cap of 6,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Red Alien, followed by the Green and Blue Aliens. Low-paying symbols fall to the Orange, Red, Purple, Green, and Blue Crystals. Wilds substitute for all High and Low-paying symbols from the paytable.

Each time a winning combination forms, all winning clusters will be removed from the grid, and new symbols will drop down from above via a Cascade, with the possibility of forming even more winning combinations.

Win Multiplier

When a winning cluster of Alien or Crystal symbols land in 2×2, 4×1, and 1×4, they will transform into Mega Symbols. Each transformation will increase the Win Multiplier by +x1, up to a maximum of x25. Each transformed symbol type will remain as a cluster of 4 symbols for the chance of creating winning combinations.

Boost Meter

The Boost Meter to the left of the grid is filled with all winning clusters that are formed during each spin. There are a total of 4 Stages of +2, +3, +4, and +5.

Each stage requires a certain amount of winning symbols to be added to the Boost Meter in order to Modify how many transformations increase the Win Multiplier. The Boost Meter will reset between each base game spin.

Special Wilds

During the base game, up to 6 special Wild symbols can land across the grid. When one of these Wild symbols is involved in a winning combination, it is collected, and after all Cascades are complete, will trigger 1 of 4 Features as follows.

• Red Wild – Creates a number of Mega Symbols.
• Yellow Wild – Removes all Low-paying Crystal symbols.
• Purple Wild – Creates a random number of Wilds.
• Green Wild – Either creates or destroys a number of random High or Low-paying symbols.

In addition to this, collecting 4 special Wilds will trigger a 2×2 Sparky Wild. Sparky Wilds can be triggered up to 3 times in the same base game spin.

• 1st Sparky Wild – Is added to the grid along with a special Wild symbol.
• 2nd Sparky Wild – Is added to the grid with either a special Wild symbol or regular Wild.
• 3rd Sparky Wild – Is added to the grid with a regular Wild only.

Also, during any random non-winning spin, a special Wild can be added to the grid, adjacent to a transformed Mega symbol.

Sparky & Shortz Hidden Joules bring back warm fuzzy feelings of the original title but with a few unique twists of its own. We fell head over heels for this dynamic duo more than gameplay itself in the original Sparky & Shortz, but has history repeated itself?

Sparky & Shortz Hidden Joules is a little more complex than the original, and not necessarily in a bad way. Those of you who have dabbled in the original will be all too familiar with the Boost Meter and Win Multipliers, but Play’n GO has gone one further and thrown in special Wild Modifiers to make it an even better offering.

Wild Modifiers are a great way to boost win potential and do well to keep the game interesting. We were a little disappointed when we found out there is no Free Spins round to grind for, which may make the original Sparky & Shortz more appealing if that’s what you usually look for in a slot.

In terms of statistics, Sparky & Shortz Hidden Joules is actually a step down in terms of potential. On a good day, Hidden Joules can deliver max wins of up to 6,000x, but this is no match for the 10,000x up for grabs in the original.

All in all, Sparky & Shortz Hidden Joules has both its positives and negatives when compared to the original, but it’s yet another reliable and entertaining addition from a provider that has already given us so much.
