Tic Tac Take Slot Review 2022

Pragmatic Play partner, Reel Kingdom has upgraded a popular pencil and paper game and bought it to life, in Tic Tac Take!

Reel Kingdom are taking us on a trip down memory lane with another exciting twist on a nostalgic pen and paper favourite, Tic-Tac-Toe. The game Tic-Tac-Toe, also known as Noughts and Crosses and X’s and O’s, is a 2 player game where each person takes a turn marking a space in the grid with either an X or an O, and the first person to get 3 in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally is the winner.

Reel Kingdom has already made an attempt at recreating a much-loved board game with Snakes and Ladders Megadice, and so we can’t help but wonder if this is the start of something new. Could it just be a coincidence that the 2 latest releases from Reel Kingdom have both been remakes of popular childrens games? Maybe, but we are excited to see if there is some kind of pattern emerging here.

In terms of looks, Tic Tac Take doesn’t really have any redeeming qualities about it. Maybe Reel Kingdom has exhausted all their creativity on their Big Bass sequels or could they be saving it all for something never seen before? The background is a solid purple/blue colour with moving lights, but other than this there is nothing else that jumps out at you. The overall design is simple and a little boring in our opinion, let’s just hope that Reel Kingdom are saving the best till last.

Will Tic Tac Take be the upgrade we’ve been looking for or will we prefer to stick to pen and paper? Let’s play on and find out!

Tic Tac Take Base Game

Tic Tac Take Betting and Symbols

Tic Tac Take has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available here is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.

The highest paying regular symbol in Tic Tac Take is the Rainbow Gem, followed by the Purple and Green Gems. Lower paying symbols fall to the Yellow, Blue and Red Gems which all have an equal pay value.

Wilds substitute for all symbols except X and O symbols. Wild symbols are only present on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Tic Tac Take Base Game and Features

Tic Tac Take is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. In order to form a win, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right and right to left, starting from both the left-most and right-most reels.

Like the original paper version, Tic Tac Take gets a little boring after a while and sadly there are no exciting features to keep us from leaving.

Tic Tac Take Respins

Landing a full line of either X or O symbols vertically, diagonally or horizontally, triggers the Respins round. For each full line of X’s and O’s formed, 1 Respin is awarded, up to a maximum of 8.

During the Respins round, all X and O symbols that form a line will transform into Wild symbols and will remain in their position for the duration of Respins. During each Respin, all symbol positions without a Wild symbol will spin, with the possibility of landing more X or O symbols.

If additional X or O symbols land, they will also transform into Wild symbols, remaining in their fixed position. If the additional X and O symbols create more full lines, +1 Respin will be awarded per line.

If the maximum win capacity of 2,200x is reached, the Respins round will end and any remaining Respins will be forfeited.

Tic Tac Take Bonus Buy

For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.

This can be purchased for 100x your current bet.

Each time the Bonus Buy is purchased, the initial trigger will have a random combination of X’s and O’s. A guaranteed full line of either X or O symbols in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line will be awarded, with a minimum of 1 Respin, up to a maximum of 8.

Tic Tac Take: Our Verdict

We love the idea of taking our favourite childhood games and bringing them to life, and so far Reel Kingdom has done exactly that with Snakes and Ladders Megadice and Tic Tac Take, but does it work? One thing we know for certain is that Tic Tac Take is miles better than the abomination that is Star Pirates Code.

There are a few things lacking in Tic Tac Take, like any kind of feature in the base game and any overwhelming detail in the design, but these things can be overlooked so long as the Free Spins/ Respins round makes up for it. The Respins round may not be to everyone’s taste, but we happened to enjoy it and we’re confident many of you will too. Reel Kingdom could have done more with the design of Tic Tac Take, but they have done a good job at capturing the idea of Tic-Tac-Toe and combining just enough of it into gameplay.

In terms of statistics, Tic Tac Take has a healthy RTP of 96.63% but a very poor maximum win capacity of 2,200x. The maximum win capacity is a lot lower than the typical 5,000x Pragmatic Play usually go for, so if you’re looking for a slot that gives you a good chance of winning big, we suggest looking elsewhere.

All in all, if you’re looking for a slot that is stripped of complicating features and excessive detail, then Tic Tac Take is the slot for you.
