cetib Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Let’s say I have an online sports betting account on my phone and my teenage child knows my general passcode for emergencies. One day, my child uses my phone without my permission, accessed my sports betting account, and places a large bet. Would I be liable if they lose? Would the sports betting company possibly be liable for allowing a minor to gamble? Quote

Fruity Scotty Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 you have to log into a sports betting app with a password or facial I'd. Your child would also need to know your card details for deposits etc. So if all this happened i would think you wouldn't be liable for a refund based on your own negligence. Quote
ElisSmith Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I agree with Fruity Scotty, they can't access your account if you "child proof" it by allowing other safety measures like facial recognition and passwords. But to answer your question, the casinos wouldn't be liable since they didn't know that it was a minor playing. Your child used your account so technically speaking you're the one playing. The best I could suggest is to keep phones away from the kids. Have fun playing! 1 Quote
ARMARMWAND Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 I'd say my child placed all my losing bets if I would get a refundhaha. 1 Quote
NSKOwen Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Parents should always be held accountable for whatever actions their young child does online. If the child wins, then you, the parent still benefits, right? You're the adult and it's your account, so you're the only one who can withdraw. Same goes if the child loses. Just my 2 cents. 1 Quote
Fruity Scotty Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Wish I could blame my kids for all my losing bets today. Quote
