Big Juan Theme

First impressions of Big Juan are okay, the screen is choc full of colourful details and an appealing selection of Jackpot amounts sit above the reels.

The backdrop in Big Juan is quite tough to see in all honesty, there is so much going on in the front that it’s hard to get a look in. The backdrop becomes much clearer during Free Spins. What we can see is the backdrop is set in the streets of Mexico with colourful buntings hanging up in the back left corner. Big Juan steals the limelight on the left, smiling from ear to ear and giving a cheeky wink every so often.

The music that is heard throughout Big Juan is perfectly suited to the theme, its jolly and joyful and certainly gets you in the mood to dance. The sound effects are on fire (quite literally), all higher paying symbols have a distinct sound effect including the Chilli Wilds that just radiate heat.

The sound effects are slightly overpowering compared to the music but that seems to be the case with most slot games, both the music and sound effects are subtle enough and wont leave you with a banging headache.

All in all, Big Juan could have been a lot better in terms of graphics but we can look past that considering the theme and music is catchy and fun. Big Juan has been kind enough to invite us to his Fiesta and now the invitation has extended to gameplay.

Big Juan Betting and Symbols

Big Juan has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £0.40 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £200 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. The minimum bet seems a little higher than what we’ve seen in other slot games, which may deter players who prefer lower stakes.

The highest paying regular symbol in Big Juan is Big Juan, followed by the Lady, the Dog, the Hot Sauce and the Guitar. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Big Juan Base Game and Features

Big Juan is a 5 reel slot with 40 fixed paylines. To form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game in Big Juan looks pretty bleak at this point but luckily Wild Streak Gaming are saving our sanity by including a unique Wild Switch Feature to keep the party going!

Wild Switch Feature

During the base game on any random spin, if 6 or more of the same paying symbols land anywhere on reels 2, 3 and 4 they transform into Wild symbols.

It’s a pretty simple feature in hindsight, but it can be effective at topping up that balance while bringing a bit of excitement to the table in the process.

Big Juan Free Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols awards 10, 12 and 15 Free Spins respectively.

Once Free Spins are active, the reels will transform into a 3×3 grid with a Money Bag symbol in the centre and a special position on reel 4. During each Free Spin, new symbols can land in view with the Money Bag symbol remaining in the centre for the entire duration.

• Coin symbols – These symbols will have a value on them that can be collected and added to the Money Bag.
• Extra Spin symbols – Each time an extra spin symbol lands, you will be awarded an additional Free Spin.

Big Juan Slot Review Our Verdict

Big Juan is all fireworks and bright lights at first, but once you get down to the nitty gritty of gameplay it doesn’t particularly shine that bright. The graphics are a little dated in comparsion to other modern slot games and the Jackpot values are less than impressive.

It doesnt seem too hard to land Free Spins in Big Juan yet its near on impossible to trigger the Wild Switch feature during the base game. The Fiesta Free Spins are certainly different compared to most slot games and we love that.

It is a little misleading at first when you see so many Jackpot symbols land in the grid and you’re jumping up and down screaming that you’ve hit the Grand Jackpot when actually you’re nowhere near, but once you realise how the Jackpot collection system works there isn’t much to get excited about. The Mini Jackpot seems alot easier to achieve compared to the others, leaving you one away nine times out of ten.

Big Juan has an above average RTP of 96.70% which seems to be the only real promising statistic in the game considering the maximum win capacity is limited to a mere 2,600x.

Overall, if you’re looking for a slot game that gets you in the party spirit, we would suggest looking elsewhere.
