Demon Pots Slot Review 2024
Demons of a slightly different kind are the order of the day in this madcap mash-up from Pragmatic Play homies Reel Kingdom, the unexpected heroes that found unprecedented success with their red-hot angling range, Bass Bonanza.
There are no fish to be found inside this fiery creation. Instead, we’re beckoned somewhere much hotter and drier, swapping the liberating, airy open waters for a fiery subterranean cauldron where Coins, Win Spins, and Free Spins provide much of the value.
On the outside, the lead chap looks demonic enough, replete with customary golden black horns and a gold chain of all things – the baller type of demon/devil/whatever.
Think you can handle the heat of Demon Pots? Only one way to find out…
Demon Pots Base Game and Features
A high-powered theme is matched with a highly strung game engine – rated 4.5/5 in terms of volatility by its creator. The demonising goes down over a 5×3 game panel crisscrossed by 40 paylines across which to land wins comprised of 3-5 matching symbols.
Speaking of symbols, the lows come in the form of 10-A royal ranks awarding up to 5x the bet, then worth a smidgen more are a pair of horseshoes, a trident, bundles of cash, a sack of cash, and a collection of gold items – the most lucrative paying 10x the stake for 5OAK winning combos.
Coming in as the Wild is the game’s protagonist – the Demon, who replaces all other regular symbols when he lands. Note that it’s only possible for the Wild to land in the very centre of the grid where he takes up position with a fair degree of frequency, incidentally.
Coins
Coins are pivotal to the action in Demon Pots. Look out for Coin symbols landing with values worth 0.2 to 2 times your wager. Should a Coin symbol land at the same time as a Wild, the values of any Coins present are paid out. Also, the Wild has another fiery trick up his sleeve, launching fireballs at the Pots located atop the reels at random. On occasion, this may result in one or more Pot being activated, dishing out these potential rewards:
- Coins Pot – 6 Coins possessing values of 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x, or 1x get added to random positions on the grid and then collected.
- Super Coins Pot – 6 Coins possessing values of 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.2x, or 2x get added to random positions on the grid and then collected.
- Win Spins Pot – Players earn 6 Respins.
- Free Spins Pot – Players earn 6 Free Spins.
Win Spins
Win Spins award 6 respins when triggered. The feature sees the Demon Wild remain locked in the centre of the screen, and as its name suggests, a random win is guaranteed on every spin – be it in the form of winning combos, collections, Coins, or Super Coins. 6 additional spins are granted if the feature is triggered again.
Demon Pots Free Spins
Last of the lot, 6 Free Spins are yours if this feature is activated. Just like Win Spins, the Wild remains fixed in place in the middle of the grid throughout, and it’s possible to bring any of the Pots above the reels into play throughout.
Full-reel stacked wilds may also land during Free Spins – appearing on reels 4 and 5. Should a fully stacked Wild land on the last reel, it may repeat the feat on reel 4 while the round is in play. Not only do these cover the entire reel, but they’re sticky for the entirety of Free Spins – upping your win potential.
If you do manage to land a fully stacked wild on the last reel, all Coins present see their value tripled, and if stacked wilds are present on both reels 4 and 5 together, Coin values are boosted by 6x
Finally, triggering the Win Spins feature while Free Spins are active will clear any sticky wilds present. Yes, seems a bit of an odd move. But, there’s a catch. Any Coins in view will have their values multiplied by 3x or 6x if sticky Wilds were on the board before the feature was triggered. Those valuable sticky wilds will then be added back in place once Win Spins end.
Demon Pots Bonus Buy
If you’re not in the UK you can grab an instant taste of the bonus action by parting in the Bonus Buy option for 100 times your bet. This kicks off Win Spins, then once these conclude, Free Spins take over.
Demon Pots: Our Verdict
Well, what was a bit of a head-scratcher, to say the least. We’ve seen some fairly bizarre entries from Reel Kingdom in the past – forking off in their own weird and wonderful direction, preferring to shun convention and throw up surprise after surprise. But even we were a bit flummoxed by Demon Pots.
It might be brimming with personality, but the slot is outright peculiar from start to finish. From the way the Wild hangs around in the middle of the grid (why, exactly?) when features are triggered, to the paltry maximum 2x Coin values making it hard to visualise a max win, to the oddly consistent number of 6 spins awarded for the mish-mash of features, topped by the strange decision to remove any sticky wilds in view if you manage to initiate Win Spins during Free Spins. And the whole weird 5-reel, 4-reel arrangement they have going on.
Some win sequences were incredulously long, too, triggering feature after feature, with little to show for your efforts once the reels had settled, some 90 spins later. At times the Wild was permanently perched in the centre of the grid for what seemed like an eternity – and all without having to rely on cascades to drive the action. And we must admit, the lead role wasn’t the most demonic demon we’d come across either
Combined with its 6,000x max win, there must be some play on the number 6 / number of the devil thing going on. That’s the only thing that would make sense amid this hotchpotch of components.
They’re a leftfield bunch at Reel Kingdom, and though this release manfully attempts to break the mould with some original gameplay, it falls well short while achieving only in consigning itself to the slot graveyard. Stick to reeling in bass, fellas.
