Gems of Serengeti Base Game and Features

Gems of Serengeti is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Gems of Serengeti has a theoretical RTP of 96.40% and a max win cap of 4,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol here is the Male Character, followed by the Female Character, Lion, Cheetah and Bird. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen and Jack. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatters.

Respin Feature

In order to trigger the Respin Feature, you will need to land 5 or more Gem symbols across the reels.

Once active, all High and Low-paying symbols will be removed and only Gems and Blank positions will be in play. The round will start with 3 Respins which will reset each time a new Gem symbol lands in view.

The triggering Gems will become locked onto the reels, along with any new Gems that may land during this time. At the end of the round, the total number of Gems on the reels will determine your win based on a fixed list of payouts, as follows.

• 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 Gems – Awards 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x and 20x your total bet respectively.
• 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 Gems – Awards 30x, 45x, 60x, 80x and 100x your total bet repsepctively.
• 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 Gems – Awards 150x, 200x, 250x, 300x and 500x your total bet respectively.

Gems of Serengeti Free Spins

Landing 3 Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins. 

During the Free Spins round, all Gem symbols that land will be collected. At the end of Free Spins, if between 5 and 19 Gem symbols have been collected, a Respin feature is awarded.

The Respin feature will start with your total number of collected Gem symbols in random positions across the reels. If during Free Spins 20 or more Gem symbols are collected, a specific amount is won, without triggering the Respin feature.

• 20, 21, 22 and 23 Gems – Awards 500x, 1,000x, 1,500x and 2,000x your total bet respectively.

Gems of Serengeti: Our Verdict

The African Savannah – one of the most popular slot themes out there. Fishing Games, Wild West Slots and the African theme seem to belong to an exclusive group that never goes out of fashion.

There’s nothing wrong with going where the demand is, but it makes Gems of Serengeti rather common and ordinary.

Theme aside, Gems of Serengeti is a promising game when it wants to be with plenty of action via its Gem Features. The collection of these within Free Spins could result in a win of up to 4,000x, which is respectable but it’s still a little lower than Pragmatic’s usual norm of 5,000x as a maximum win. In the grand scheme of things we think Gems of Serengeti is rather forgettable.

It doesn’t show us anything that we haven’t seen before, and it doesn’t even outperform those with similar features.

Pragmatic have one of the most hectic release schedules out there, with new slots coming out more frequently than pretty much anyone else.

Do they prioritise quantity over quality? Maybe. Pragmatic have some amazing games, but Gems of Serengeti is among the pool of those that are slightly above average at best.
