Male and Female pinup models, most commonly named pinup girls or male pinups, is a model whose pictures get a great deal of popularity and appeal as part of a popular culture.

Pinup models were known for their glamorous appearance and were mostly fashion models and actresses whose pictures were intended to be ‘pinned up’ on a wall, which is where the phrase pinup models originated from.

In the past, the term ‘pinup’ has been refered to paintings and other illustrations such as photographs, but is said to have first attested in English in 1941, although there is talk that the phrase may go back as far as the 1890’s.

Pinup Girls Base Game and Features

Pinup Girls is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

In terms of symbols, all High-paying symbols fall to a collection of Pinup Models. The pinup girl with the Purple background has the highest pay value, followed by the pinup girls with the Multicolour, Pink and Green backgrounds, Perfume Bottle and Heels.

Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten. Wilds appear only on reels 2, 3 and 4, substituting for all other symbols except Scatters.

Progressive Feature

Pinup Girls is played in a series of 10 Spins, this is known as the Progressive Feature. Spin numbers increase until they reach 10, then reset back to 1.

All reel positions on reels 2, 3 and 4 are marked with a potential Multiplier value. During each spin in the 10 spin cycle, random positions can have their Multiplier value increased by x1. All multiplier values will remain on the reels until the 10th and final spin in the spin cycle.

On the 10th spin, all Wild symbols present on reels 2, 3 and 4 will absorb the Multiplier that is present on their positions at that time. Multipliers will be applied to all winning combinations that the Wild symbols are part of.

If more than 1 Wild with a Multiplier is part of the same winning combinations, their multiplier values will be added together and applied to the win(s). At the end of the 10th spin, all Multipliers on reels 2, 3 and 4 will be reset back to x1.

If you decide to change your bet in the middle of the spin cycle, the Progressive Feature will be reset back to 1 and all Multipliers back to x1.

Pinup Girls Free Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters across the reels in any position triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 15 and 20 Free Spins resectively.

During free spins, the Progressive Feature is active, but the Multipliers come into effect every 5 Free Spins. Each Wild that lands will automatically mark its position for the duration of the round, including any Multiplier increases.

Every 5 Free Spins, positions that are marked with Wilds will transform into Wilds and recieve the Multiplier for that position.

Pinup Girls: Our Verdict

Is Pimup girls a slot that’ll resonate more with women? or men? We can’t divide. It’s very frilly, fancy and feminine, but the voluptuous ladies might tickle the fancy of a few of the guys too.

Pinup Girls is a slot that builds up a bit of momentum before the potential big finale. Wilds all over the shop can spell good things, even in the Base Game, but the bulk of the potential lies within Free Spins, as it should. During Free Spins, the feature will trigger every 5 spins instead of 10, but we’re not sure it quite does enough to evoke any real excitement.

The problem with slots with a big last spin (or 2 big spins in this case), is that it renders many of the other spins as mere tools to build up wilds or multipliers. We’re of the opinion that Free Spins should have the potential to kick off on any given spin, and Pinup Girls really does feel rather stale until you get to the 5th or 10th spin. Plus, if you’re not lucky in the build up to the big spin, then you’re just waiting for it all to end.

Does Pinup Girls do enough in Free Spins to make it stand out as one of Pragmatic Play’s best? Not by a long shot. Pinup Girls is a bit of fun with a delicate yet deadly roster of girls to die for, but the game itself isn’t that deadly, even by Pragmatic standards. The maximum win cap in Pinup Girls is 3,000x, which is lower by a couple of thousand than some of Pragmatic’s other offerings.

Overall, Pinup Girls is rather forgettable. The lovely ladies make the experience somewhat pleasant, but you’d need to be rather depraved to just stick around for that.
