Much like many of the ‘Book of’ games, betting options for this one can be broken down by either coins per line, coin value, or simply total bet. These options together make for a huge selection of stake options.

The Base Game

Return of the Dead Slot is played using traditional pay lines, much like many of the games of this genre. There are 10 pay lines in total, which are numbered at both sides of the reels.

To obtain a win, you’ll need at least 3 of the low paying symbols, or 2 of the high paying symbols across any of these 10 pay lines to form a win. Wins pay from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

Some may think that the Base Game is uneventful, and in a way, it is. However, potential big wins are available for connecting full lines of symbols, with a huge 500x possible for connecting a full line of the top symbol.

As mentioned, books will substitute for any symbol acting as a Wild, so while lacking in features, the game definitely has the potential to pay.

Free Spins

3 or more book symbols are needed to trigger the bonus, and the Scatter also pays. 2x your total bet is awarded for 3, 20x is awarded for 4 and 200x for 5 books.

On top of this, you’ll collect wins for any winning combination that they were a part of considering they also act as wild symbols. The option to buy the bonus for 100x your bet is also available, but only outside the UK. 

10 Spins are awarded in the Bonus, and before the round starts a special symbol will be randomly selected. After the payout of regular symbols, any special symbols will expand to cover the entirety of the reel providing enough of them have landed.

Our Verdict

In all honesty, you’ve played a game like Return of the Dead Slot 1000 times just with a different theme, but it never seems to get old.

The potential these games can put out is almost unfathomable even in the base game, but the bonus is where the potential is with them expanding symbols, and the excitement will peak if you manage to get a full screen of your special symbol.

The maximum win is stated at 5000x, which will undoubtedly be super hard to obtain, given the games high volatility rating.

The only drawback of Return of the Dead Slot seems to be that re-triggering the game does not select another special symbol. It can be a little bit disappointing if you get one of the low paying symbols, and you know you’ve got no chance or re-triggering with another symbol.

The game is super simplistic, which is a breath of fresh air for those who prefer easier to understand games.
