Base Game & Features
Alibaba’s Cave of Fortune operates under a standard 5-reel, 3-row matrix, in addition to 243 ways to win. Paytable symbols trigger winning combinations when 3, 4, or 5 matching instances land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The 2 Character symbols appear as the highest-paying during gameplay, followed by the Donkey, Scales, Knife, Axe, and A, K, Q, & J card ranks. Once a winning combination is present, a fixed payout between 1x and 150x your bet is applied. Lastly, Wild symbols appear on reels 2, 3, 4, & 5 throughout a session, substituting for all symbols except Coin & Collector symbols.
Collector & Coin Symbols
Throughout the base game, Coin & Collector symbols can appear on any of the 5 reels. Each Coin symbol in view reveals a random value between 1x and 10x your bet, which can only be awarded by a Collector symbol.
When a Collector symbol lands on the reels, alongside 1 or more Coin symbols, it will collect the total value and apply it to the overall win of that spin. If multiple Collector symbols appear in the same spin, the total combined coin values are awarded for each symbol.
Alibaba’s Cave of Fortune Bonus
When 6 or more Coin symbols appear anywhere on the reels in the base game, the Bonus Feature is triggered, awarding 3 Respins. Alternatively, if 4 or 5 Coin symbols appear in view, there’s a random chance of having an additional +2 or +1 Coin symbol added to the total, respectively.
During the bonus, all paytable symbols are removed from play, leaving only Coin, Collector, & Jackpot symbols available on the reels. With each spin, all cell positions without any of the special symbols will spin again to reveal either a Collector or Blank symbol.
If 1 or more Collector symbols appear in view, each Coin or Jackpot symbol will reveal a random value from a predefined set:
- Coins: Between 1x and 10x your bet
- Mini: 20x your bet
- Minor: 50x your bet
- Major: 500x your bet
- Grand: 5,000x your bet
After all wins are paid out, the Collector symbol will spin again to reveal a Coin or Jackpot symbol, resetting the Respins Meter to 3. The bonus ends when the Respins Meter reaches 0, applying the values of all Coin/Jackpot symbols to the total win amount of the session.

If there’s one thing we’ve come to love and appreciate from PGSoft, it’s that each release offers a great mix of features & mechanics. Whether it be Free Spins or Respins, ways to win or pay lines, PGSoft caters to every kind of player & their preferred preferences.
In Alibaba’s Cave of Fortune, PGSoft ditches Free Spins & pay lines in favour of Respins and ways to win, spread across a traditional 5×3 matrix with an accessible Coin Collection Feature.
Due to the 243 ways available, winning combinations are far more obtainable on the reels, but they come with a smaller payout scheme. Coin symbols, as part of the Coin Collection feature, are also limited in value, saving the bigger payouts for the 4 Jackpot Prizes available, with the Grand Jackpot worth up to 5,000x your bet.
The Bonus Game is a glorified Hold & Win mode, triggered when 6 or more Coin symbols appear in the same spin, awarding the usual 3 Respins that refill for every new symbol that appears at that time.
For a Hold & Win mode, it’s surprisingly not that easy to trigger. Thankfully, though, PGSoft has added a fancy feature that randomly places 4 or 5 Coin symbols on the reels, for an enhanced chance of triggering the bonus. Failing that, there’s always the chance of landing a Collector symbol to reveal Cash or Jackpot Prizes, so it never feels like a wasted opportunity.
On a good day, Alibaba’s Cave of Fortune can award up to 10,000x your bet in max win potential, but the available features & mechanics are a far cry from the excitement in Skylight Wonders. All in all, Alibaba’s Cave of Fortune is a great choice for players seeking ample potential & slower-paced gameplay, but it won’t be everyone’s first choice from PGSoft’s portfolio.
