Base Game & features
Goldstorm Ultra is the latest highly volatile video slot from Yggdrasil Gaming, consisting of 5 reels, 3 rows, and 20-40 fixed pay lines. Matching symbols containing 3 or more instances trigger winning combinations from left to right.
The highest-paying symbol falls to the Slot Logo, awarding fixed payouts between 2x and 25x your bet. Other symbols, containing classic icons and card suits, trigger payouts between 0.1x and 17.5x your bet, where applicable.
The game also contains Wild symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4 in the base game. Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Scatters as part of a winning combination. During Free Spins & Super Free Spins, Wild symbols become sticky on the reels.
Wild symbols always reveal a random Multiplier of x2, x3, x4, or x5 when they land on the reels. If there is more than 1 Wild as part of the same winning combination, their Multipliers will add together and apply to the current win.
Scatters & Charge Levels
In the base game, there are two types of Scatter symbols available:
- Green Scatter: Accounts for Free Spins. Up to 5 Green Scatters can appear on the reels in a single spin.
- Pink Scatter: Accounts for Super Free Spins
Each Scatter symbol is assigned a special Collection Meter above reels 1 & 5. In the base game, both meters are active, each requiring 50 Scatters to fill. When a Scatter symbol appears, it is collected into its respective Collection Meter.
Goldstorm Ultra Free Spins
When either of the two Collection Meters is filled, it will trigger its respective Free Spins or Super Free Spins mode, awarding 10 Free Spins, respectively.
In the regular Free Spins mode, 2 identical machines are visible, but only 1 is active to begin with. Filling each Charge Level with 14 Green and/or Pink Scatters will award the following:
- Green Charge Level: Awards an additional +5 Free Spins
- Pink Charge Level: Awards +5 Free Spins and upgrades the current mode to Super Free Spins
Super Free Spins

Our Honest Verdict
Goldstorm Ultra immerses us in dazzling aesthetics, an upbeat soundtrack, and an electrifying classic theme. Although the design is bold and bright, the game’s features are simple and easy to understand.
Without doing your homework, there’s no clue to what each meter is responsible for above the reels, but once you start spinning, it soon becomes apparent. Green and Pink Scatters build up their respective meters for a chance to trigger the Free Spins/Super Free Spins modes.
Unlike a traditional slot, landing 3 or more Scatters of any colour isn’t going to cut it. Instead, you will need to fill each Charge Level with 50 Scatters. Understandably, the Super Free Spins meter requires this amount to trigger, but it seems a little unfair that the regular Free Spins mode requires the same amount.
During regular Free Spins, there’s a chance to upgrade the mode to Super Free Spins by filling the Charge Level with 14 Pink Scatters. In doing so, the second matrix will unlock, meaning there’s more potential for bigger wins.
Another positive aspect for both modes is the Sticky Wilds. This includes their current Multipliers, as seen in The Dog House Megaways. Our only dispute is that the max win potential is fixed at 4,000x your bet. Although it’s not the most rewarding of max wins, it fits the game’s criteria quite well.
All in all, Goldstorm Ultra draws us in with its dazzling design and classic aesthetic, but it’s not a Yggdrasil Gaming greatest hit by any means.
