Step into the magical, spellbinding world of Push Gaming’s latest release, Tarot Treasures!

After revelling in the success of Big Bite Push Ways, Push Gaming decided that the Push Ways mechanic deserved another outing with a supernatural twist in time for Halloween. Tarot Treasures aligns the Push Ways mechanic with a special Cascade Trail, adding dimension for a truly magical experience.

In Tarot Treasures, the Push Ways mechanic acts as a talisman, conjuring big potential & thrill onto the reels of each spin. The soundscapes are truly terrifying, as is the game’s backdrop, which reveals a haunted house setting with crooked trees, purple skies, & floating embers.

Halloween slots cover a range of thematics, from witches to graveyards; there’s nothing we haven’t seen…yet. Hacksaw Gaming & their known partner providers offer quite a compelling selection of Halloween-inspired slots, including Old Drac, Mystery Bats, & The Wildwood Curse, to name a few.

Each Halloween game we’ve encountered so far covers all things frightfully fun, but will Tarot Treasures do the same? With a fixed RTP of 96.39% and a mid volatility score, this game can trigger wins worth up to 5,400x your bet.

What will the cards have in store for us? Let’s find out…

Base Game & Features

Tarot Treasures is a mid volatility, Halloween-themed release from Push Gaming, consisting of 6 reels, 4 rows, and up to 262,144 ways to win; however, each base game spin begins with 4,096 ways to win as standard.

Wins occur when 2-6 identical symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1. The highest-paying symbol displays an Owl, followed by a Voodoo Doll, Animal Skull, 3 Potion Bottles, and 4 Coloured Gems. Payouts for each winning combination are between 0.1x and 20x your bet, where applicable.

Additionally, Wild symbols are available on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6, substituting for all symbols except Scatters when completing a winning combination. Other statistics include a maximum win potential of 5,400x your bet and a default RTP of 96.39%.

Lastly, each winning combination will leave the reels via an Avalanche Feature, allowing new symbols to fill all empty cell positions from above the reels. This continues until no new wins occur in that same spin.

Cascade Feature

Above the main reel set is a special Cascade Trail that requires 3 consecutive wins to trigger the Cascade Feature. Once active, a selection of Tarot Cards is revealed, with up to 4 different categories of Bonus available:

  • Extra Wilds: Adds 3, 5, 7, or 10 Wilds to the reels. If a win occurs, the game will continue to remove winning symbols from the reels via the Avalanche Feature.
  • Extra Hot Zones: Appear in stacks of 2, 3, or 4 on the reels. Each Hot Zone will be positioned fully stacked from left to right and hold its position for the next spin.
  • Win Multiplier: Awards a Multiplier of x3, x5, x10, or x25. The Win Multiplier is applied to all wins from the last Avalanche event.
  • Free Spins Trigger: Applies 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters onto the reels for entry into the Free Spins mode.

Hot Zone Feature

Hot Zones are highlighted frames that appear in the top two rows of the reel set during gameplay. Each symbol that falls within a Hot Zone will split into two instances, increasing the number of ways to win, up to a maximum of 262,144.

With each spin, the available Hot Zones will move down one position and will always appear in stacks of 4.

Tarot Treasures Free Spins

Landing 3 Scatter symbols in the base game triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 8 Free Spins, plus an additional +1 Free Spin for every Scatter after the third, up to a maximum of 17 in total. It is also possible to land Scatters within an active Hot Zone.

In this mode, Hot Zones will initially land on reels 2 & 5. Each of the 5 bars within the Cascade Trail is filled when a winning combination occurs. Once all 5 positions are filled, up to 4 unique Features will trigger:

  • Extra Wilds: Between 5 & 20 Wilds are added to the reels.
  • Extra Hot Zones: Between 2 & 6 Hot Zones are added to the reels, fully in view.
  • Win Multiplier: Awards a Multiplier of x3, x5, x10, x50, or x100, which is applied to the total win of the current spin.
  • Free Spins Trigger: Reveals between 1 & 6 Scatters onto the reels, awarding additional spins.

The progression of the Cascade Trail does not reset between spins, making the individual Features more obtainable during the Free Spins mode.

Our Honest Verdict

It’s great to see the Push Ways mechanic make its transition into another ‘spooktacular’ release from Push Gaming, but did Tarot Treasures live up to our expectations? After losing Push Gaming to the ‘3 Pots’ mechanic for a short time in 3 Magic Pots & Wild Swarm Triple Hive, we’re elated to see them return to what they’re good at.

Tarot Treasures is a thrilling Halloween instalment with climactic soundscapes and an eerie, haunted house backdrop setting. While the theme is slightly chilling for Push Gaming, the available mechanics & features have the opposite effect.

Bursts of colour line every corner of the game, and the graphics are a true representation of Push Gaming. Each base game spin begins with 4,096 ways to win, while the Hot Zones Feature enables each reel to expand, up to a maximum of 262,144 ways to win.

While the 4,096 ways to win are already a generous starting point, it’s exciting to see each Hot Zone reel split its respective symbols into two instances. With the Hot Zones Feature available, there’s a chance to split every single reel position, for an opportunity to reveal 262,144 ways to win.

Although unique to itself, this feature shares strong similarities with Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic, as well as Yggdrasil Gaming’s Gigablox mechanic. Big Bite Push Ways was the first to initiate the Push Ways mechanic, but Tarot Treasures is the one to expand upon it.

Each winning combination is removed from the reels as part of the Avalanche Feature. In addition, there is also a special Cascade Trail, which collects up to 3 consecutive wins to award a random Feature; anything from Extra Wilds to a Free Spins trigger.

During Free Spins, the Cascade Trail requires 5 consecutive wins to trigger 1 of 4 Features. While this may seem a little cruel, it’s balanced out by the current progress of the Cascade Trail being held throughout spins.

When compared to Big Bite Push Ways, statistically, Tarot Treasures is the better option for its 5,400x maximum win potential; however, it’s up to you to decide whether it’s a better instalment.

All in all, Tarot Treasures is a solid & spooktacular release from Push Gaming, and a much-needed extension to the Push Ways mechanic.
