Base Game & Features
Hounds of Hell is a standard 5-reel Video Slot with a Scatter Pays mechanic and varying bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€100 per spin. This highly volatile slot includes an overall RTP of 96.27% and a generous max win cap of 20,000x your bet.
Wins are calculated when 6 or more matching symbols appear anywhere on the reels, regardless of the position. Low-paying symbols fall to card suits (A-10), worth between 0.1x and 5x your bet. Alternatively, all High-paying symbols award payouts between 0.3x and 50x your bet.
During gameplay, each winning combination is removed and replaced with new paytable symbols via an Avalanche Feature. This enables players to create or enhance winning combinations in a single spin, which continues until no more wins occur.
Hellhounds
In the base game, Hellhound symbols are special Cash Multipliers that spread and collect before being multiplied by your current bet.
At the end of each spin, all visible Hellhound symbols will spread to the top of their respective reel. Once this happens, each Hellhound symbol will receive a Multiplier Value from the following:
- Adding: Between x1 and x50
- Multiplying: Between x2 and x10
Multipliers will be collected from bottom to top and left to right, displayed above each corresponding reel. Please note, that only 1 Hellhound symbol can appear on a single reel at any time.
Roaring Packs of Hell
When 2 or more Hellhound symbols appear on adjacent reels, along the same row, they form a Roaring Pack. Once this happens, their possible Multiplier values are increased.
Hellhound symbols can spread from another Hellhound that is part of a Roaring Pack, which counts as part of the pack. The possible Multiplier outcomes for all Hellhound symbols that are part of a pack include:
- Adding: Between x5 and x100
- Multiplying: Between x3 and x20
Once a Hellhound symbol is part of the pack, it will remain so even if it separates and ends up on a different row as a result of a winning Avalanche Feature.
Hounds are Loose
The Hounds are Loose feature can trigger randomly at the end of any spin in the base game. Once active, all Low-paying symbols are removed and new symbols drop in to fill their position.
Please note, that this feature can trigger multiple times per spin. Once all Low-paying symbols are cleared, there is an increased chance of landing Hellhound symbols among the new symbol drop.
Bonus Gamble
When entering a Free Spins mode, you can gamble your current mode for 5 Hellfire Orbs. If you choose to gamble, you can choose up to 3 Hellfire Orbs, which contain 2-10 Free Spins or a Bonus Upgrade.

What the Hell!
Landing 3 FS Scatters in the base game triggers the What the Hell Free Spins mode, awarding 10 Free Spins.
This round retains the same mannerisms as the base game, only all Multiplier values collected from Hellhound symbols are kept above the reels until the end of the feature and can be progressively increased. At the end of the round, all collected Multipliers are added together and applied to your total win.
In addition, the Hounds are Loose feature is guaranteed after 3 non-winning spins in a row. A spin is considered non-winning if it has no regular wins no any landed Hellhound symbols. Landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters awards an additional +2 and +4 Free Spins respectively.
Who Let the Hounds Out?!
Landing 4 FS Scatters anywhere in the base game triggers the Who Let the Hounds Out mode, awarding 10 Free Spins.
In this round, all features from the base game are retained, with the addition of a persistent Hell Reels Feature. Furthermore, this round also awards an improved Hounds are Loose feature from the What the Hell bonus.
When a Hellhound symbol appears on a reel for the first time, it causes the reel to become an activated Hell Reel. A Hellhound symbol is guaranteed to land on each activated Hell Reel for the duration of the feature.
In this round, Hellhound Multipliers are added together and applied at the end of each spin. After this, the Multipliers above each reel are reset to 0. Landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters awards an additional +2 and +4 Free Spins respectively.
Our Verdict
When we hear whispers of a new Hacksaw Gaming slot, we’re instantly intrigued to see what new and exciting features they conjure up next. In Hounds of Hell, we’re graced with new elements, combined with old ones seen previously in Xmas Drop and RIP City.
What’s instantly apparent is which direction Hacksaw Gaming has taken the theme. If you’re familiar with their vast selection of games, you’ll know they often switch between light and dark themes. We’ll admit we admire their darker titles more, but this is not a negative reflection of their light and fluffy slots.
