Play N Go
Release your inner rock god as we join the legendary Alice Cooper on tour in Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness by Play’n GO!
Play’n GO look to continue the Tome of Madness series which started with our favourite explorer Rich Wilde back in 2019. Portal Features, Other World Bonus rounds and the Mega Wild Cthulhu set the scene for an action packed adventure, but now we’re delving into a ‘nightmarish world’ with the legendary icon himself.
When Alice was exploring the city, he ventured across a bookstore where he discovered a book filled with stories of other Alice Coopers in other dimensions. In this particular instalment, Alice is a prisoner of his own making, and he must write stories to keep himself alive.
Let’s jump right into Tome of Madness as we’ve never seen it before and help to release Alice Cooper from his chains!
Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness displays a nightmarish theme to compliment Alice Cooper’s nightmarish ordeal.
In the background you’ll see a dark and gloomy building in which we witness the gravity of Alice’s perilous situation. Could this building be an Asylum, perhaps? Wherever it is, it’s certainly not a pleasant place. Through the windows you’ll hear the sound of roaring thunder and rain to further enhance the gloomy experience, and sounds are scarce at times to create an eerie silence.
You wouldn’t necessarily guess just by looking at it that Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness is related in any way to the original Rich Wilde version, until gameplay begins that is.
Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness is playable from as little as £0.10 per spin and as high as £100 per spin, with a variety of Betting options in between the two.
As we turn our attention to symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness falls to the Daggered Heart, closely followed by the Snake, the Cross and the Spider. Lower paying symbols are the Red, Blue, Purple and Green Skull Gems.
Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Key symbols.
Alice Cooper and the Tome of madness is a 5 reel slot with a cluster pays mechanic. To form a win, you will need 4 or more of the same symbols to connect to each other horizontally and/or vertically. Once a winning cluster is formed, these symbols will then disappear and new symbols will cascade in their place.
We love a slot game that rewards us with an exciting feature and Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness does just that, with not one but two unique Features up for grabs!
During the base game on any non-winning spin, you can be awarded with one of four Reality Effects.
To trigger the Hat of Madness feature you will need to land winning combinations, these winning symbols will then charge the Hat of Madness and fill the meter.
The Hat of Madness has 5 individual levels which can be awarded by filling the meter with a certain amount of winning symbols.
To release poor Alice Cooper from his bindings and trigger the Alice Cooper Mega Wild, you will need to land 3 Keys. Once all 3 Keys have been obtained they will release the Alice Cooper Mega Wild.
The Mega Wild adds itself to reels 2, 3 or 4 and will walk left or right between cascades until it disappears from the reels altogether.
As mentioned previously, achieving level 4 or 5 on the Hat of Madness triggers 3 reality spins.
When you unlock these, you’ll be asked to pick your reality spins, which may be Insane Asylum, The Dungeon, Chamber of Horrors or the Temptation room.
In this mode, the chosen reality effect triggers at the end of each spin, and the Alice Cooper Mega Wild may be added to the reels.
During reality spins, there is also a chance that 3 – 6 additional wilds may be added to the reels when it moves.
Play’n GO are very intent of late at getting some big celebrity names into their games, and Alice Cooper is certainly and impressive icon with big notoriety. Is Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness as exciting as the name behind it though? Probably not.
While the inclusion of Alice Cooper and the strange backstory behind it may gauge a fair amount of interest, it doesn’t do much to make it a stand out choice when comparing it to Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness. Potential has been upped a little bit to 3,000x, but the appetite for big volatility games at the moment may disenchant those in the market for those massive hits.
Overall, we feel like Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness may appeal to a very select group of people who have a soft spot for the person who pioneered theatrical heavy metal, and perhaps those who liked Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness too. All things considered though, it’s not exactly a smash hit title from Play’n GO in comparison to some of their legendary grid slot titles.
