Beast Mode Slot Review 2021

Ready to get shredded, swole, buff, ripped and beefy with Beast Mode from Relax Gaming? Of course you are, because Beast Mode from Relax Gaming is born of another collaboration with CasinoGrounds, and it’s an exciting indication of what to expect if their previous mutual venture Iron Bank is anything to go by.

Iron Bank was released in October 2020, and it still enjoys widespread popularity today for its diversity and its potential. Even the very idea of Iron Bank and the design behind it made it unique in it’s own way. The heist themed slot gave (and continues to give) hours of entertainment and YouTube is littered with videos of Iron Bank showing everyone what it’s made of with astronomical wins, but can Beast Mode live up to such notoriety?

We didn’t plan on doing any kind of physical fitness in the run up to Christmas, but we’ll make an exception for Beast Mode.

Beast Mode Slot Theme

Beast Mode is absolutely beautiful visually, although the area is a little rough around the edges. There was so much to take in here that it was a while before we actually started playing.

Our attention was diverted to the buff rhino getting arrested, and the Crocodile swigging away at a bottle atop the figurehead of a donut shop; and don’t think we didn’t notice the fellow shadow boxing on top of the roof either. The final but most notable character has to be the Lion doing his chest presses beside the reels though. The weight is so massive that the bar bell is bending, what a beast indeed.

There’s so much to take in visually. There’s even a subtle little nod to the collaboration here with CG X RLX as the numberplate of the cop car.

Casino Grounds and Relax Gaming were very meticulous about creating their own rendition of muscle beach, and we must say, the graphics are gorgeous.

Beast Mode: Betting and Symbols

You’ll find a diverse selection of betting options in Beast Mode, just like you would with any other Relax Gaming title. The lowest betting option in this one is £/€0.10 per spin, and the highest option is £/€40 per spin. There are a lot of different options in between the minimum and maximum, so there’s definitely something for all types of players here.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying symbol in Beast Mode is the Lion Symbol. Following on from him is the Boombox, Dumbell, Rollerblades and Kettlebell.

Low paying symbols are Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10. There’s also a Wild Symbol which substitutes for all regular symbols.

Beast Mode: The Base Game and Features

Beast Mode is a 6 reel slot with 4,096 ways to win. To form a win, you’ll need at least 3 of any symbol to connect from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the left-most reel.

Their position on their respective reels does not matter as a slot unrestricted by conventional fixed pay lines, and it’s unsurprising to see given how Iron Bank used the same payway mechanic.

One thing Iron Bank did not do though was cascading reels, which is something that Beast Mode has adopted. Winning symbols are removed from play, which causes new symbols to fall into the empty spaces which may create further winning combinations.

If Scatter symbols land then they’ll disappear and collect atop the reels until enough are collected to trigger Free Spins, or until no more winning combinations are possible.

Iron Bank had a little something extra in the form of mystery symbols in the Base Game, and Beast Mode does too.

Beast Mode Slot Base Game

Random Mystery Spin

The Random Mystery Spin feature is triggered randomly on any given spin in the Base Game. This feature guarantees at least one mystery symbol, and all mystery symbols reveals the same symbol.

The Mystery Spin continues as long as the wins keep coming, with the exclusion of wins on pure mystery symbols.

This is a great Base Game Feature to have, and it keeps you going while you make enough ‘gains’ to get yourself into the Free Spins round.

Beast Mode Free Spins

Beast Mode Free Spins are obtained by collecting 3 or 4 bonus symbols.

If you trigger Free Spins with 3 bonus symbols, then you’ll be offered a gamble for upgraded Free Spins with a 50% chance of pulling it off. If you land Free Spins with 4 Scatters, then you’re automatically given the upgraded version.

Just like in Iron Bank, the choice is yours in Beast Mode, with 3 options to choose from.

Mystery Symbol Free Spins

The Mystery Symbol Free Spins awards you with 6 Free Spins. During this mode, mystery symbols can land on reels 2-5, and when they do they’ll stick for the remainder of the round.

After each cascade, Mystery Symbols reveal a random symbol, and in any new spin mystery symbols from a previous spin will drop to the bottom of the reels.

Within this round exists an Expand Bomb which is present on reel 6 only. When this lands, it will open up another row and award an additional 3 spins. The middle four reels can expand up to a maximum of 38416 ways to win.

If you get the Upgraded Mystery Symbol Free Spins,m then you’ll start with 4 mystery symbols already present on reels 2-5.

Multiplier Ladder Free Spins

If you choose Multiplier Ladder Free Spins then you’ll be awarded 8 Free Spins.

Above the reels, you’ll see a list of multipliers. The Multiplier starts at 1x, this will move by one step on the list for every spin after the first, and every cascade.

If you reach the top multiplier of 500x, then the multiplier persists at that level for the remainder of the round.

Certain multipliers also award additional spins. Here are the multipliers in which you’re awarded with more spins:

  • 15x – 3 spins
  • 20x – 1 Spin
  • 50x – 2 Spins
  • 100x – 2 Spins
  • 500x – 2 Spins

The multiplier ladder looks like this. 1x, 2x 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x 8x, 9x, 10x,11x, 12x, 13x, 14x, 15x, 16x, 17x, 18x, 19x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 35x, 40x, 45x, 50x, 60x, 70x, 80x. 90x, 100x, 150x, 200x, 300x, 400x & 500x.

As you can see, there’s a fair few multipliers to get through. Reaching those upper levels would be an ultra exciting experience, but you’ll need to be lucky with those cascades for a real boost.

There’s an upgraded version of this bonus too. If you get the Upgraded Free Spins, then you’ll start with 9 spins instead of 8. It doesn’t sound like much, but it could make a big difference.

Beast Mode Ladder Free Spins

Expanding Wild Free Spins

Last but not least we have the Expanding Wild Free Spins.

In this bonus, 7 Free Spins are awarded, and the multiplier starts at 1x. Wild symbols exist on reels 2-5, and every Wild symbol that lands will expand downwards, creating new wild symbols on any positions below it.

Every win increases the multiplier by 1x, and you can net yourself extra spins by landing yourself a special symbol on any reel. If you do get it, then you’re awarded +3 spins.

Just like with the others, there’s an upgraded variant of this too. In the Upgraded Expanding Wild Free Spins, the Multiplier starts at 10x instead of 1x.

Beast Mode Expanding Free Spins

Beast Mode: Bonus Buy

A Bonus Buy option returns once more for non-UK players, and it’s a pretty reasonable 80x your stake.

Buying the Bonus does not give you the chance to get the Upgraded variants without a gamble, so there’s no lucky 4 Scatters for those who opt to buy it, you’ll have to work for those upgraded variants!

The RTP when utilising the Bonus Buy option is 97%.

Beast Mode Slot: Our Verdict

So is Beast Mode Iron Bank on steriods? (pun intended)

We think it is in a lot of ways. Definite improvement has been made in almost every imaginable aspect from gameplay functions, features, graphics, sounds and more.

You can see a lot of Iron Bank inspiration here, which will bode well with those with a soft spot for it, but it’s been changed in such a way that Beast Mode is very much its own game.

Upgraded variants of each bonus brings a whole new element of excitement to Beast Mode, and they’re not unobtainable ‘super bonuses’ either. At this point, we’ve come to accept that we’re never getting a natural 5 scatter San Quentin bonus, and we’ll dream of the moment that we get to see an enhanced Wild Flower bonus again too.

In Beast Mode, the Free Spins are still ‘Super’ with significant upgrades to their normal counterparts, but all that stands in your way is a 50/50 gamble option.

Gamble functions are a bit marmite. Some love them, and some hate them. It’s next level tilting when you lose them, but incredibly exciting when you do. Whether you’re a UK player looking to land a natural bonus or a bonus buyer overshore, we’d recommend you to be careful with this one.

In terms of statistics, Beast Mode actually isn’t as potent as Iron Bank was. In fact, it has almost half of the potential. In a way though, you can’t really moan. Sure Iron Bank is capable of 49868x, but is it really? and has anyone ever hit it?

We’ll be the first to apologise if it has reached its cap, but 25,000x is significant enough, and it sounds much more realistic.

Overall, if you were a big fan of what CasinoGrounds and Relax Gaming did together with Iron Bank, then you’ll adore Beast Mode!.

Relax Gaming and Casino Grounds has since launched a sequel to Beast Mode called Net Gains! Check out our review here
