Chip Spin Slot Overview

It’s time for a trip to Sin City in Relax Gaming‘s latest Vegas-inspired instalment, Chip Spin.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so they say, but hopefully the exception to the rule is the bundle of cash that’ll come home with you after a trip to Relax’s very own Casino.

Chip Spin looks to take some inspiration from some previous Relax Gaming instalments like Money Train 2 with Sniper and Collector symbols, which says exciting things already about this new slot.

Will the deck be stacked against you in Chip Spin Slot? or will you beat the dealer and become Vegas legend? Relax Gaming instalments have been very exciting of late, with instalments like Top Dawgs, Book of 99 and Wild Chapo. How does Chip Spin compare? and are there any recurring themes to go with the Money Train 2 influence?

In this Chip Spin Slot Review, we’ll be breaking down all of the features of this new slot all while getting that exciting Las Vegas experience.

Chip Spin Base

Chip Spin Slot Theme

Chip Spin has a light-hearted Vegas theme with some of the famous Las Vegas landmarks visible in the background, including the infamous ‘Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” sign to the side of the reels.

One might think at first that Las Vegas isn’t as ‘glitz and glam as it should be in Chip Spin, but the visuals will change when you trigger the bonus round to display a more appropriate Vegas nightlife theme.

The upbeat jazz style music in Chip Spin really gets you in the mood to play, and the actual design quality of this slot is top-notch like you’d expect from a Relax Gaming slot.

Chip Spin Slot: Betting and Symbols

Chip Spin has some very expansive betting options to cover the needs of every type of player.

The lowest option here is £/€0.10 per spin, and the highest option is £/€30 per spin. With plenty of increments in between, there’s something for everyone.

The symbols in Chip Spin are split up between high paying, medium paying and low paying symbols.

High paying symbols are comprised of a group of gamblers who are feeling lucky in the midst of a Poker game. The Red Poker player is the highest paying symbol, and he’s followed by the Purple, Green and Blue Poker players.

Medium Paying symbols are the Red, Purple and Green Gems, and the low paying symbols are Ace, King, Queen and Jack.

Keep an eye out for Poker Chip symbols too. In the Base Game, these serve to trigger a feature, but in the Bonus, they’ll serve as power-ups,

Chip Spin: The Base Game and Features

Chip Spin is a slot machine with 5 columns and 5 rows that use the mechanism of the connected way.

This is a little bit different to Cluster pays, pay lines or even the ways to win mechanics that we usually see from slots. To connect a win in Chip Spin, you’ll need symbols to connect from left to right starting from the leftmost reel, and symbols will need to be in positions that are adjacent to each other on the same row, or one row above or below.

Rewards for connecting 5 of the highest paying symbol isn’t exactly formidable at 6x, however, multiple instances of the same symbol may appear on the same reel so wins can improve exponentially when this happens.

Chip Spin is perfectly charming enough in The Base Game from what we’ve seen so far, but in Vegas, you should go big or go home, and Relax Gaming go big with a couple of different features to heighten your experience.

Chip Spin: Bonus Game

The Chip Spin Bonus Game isn’t exactly Free Spins, that is something else entirely.

The Chip Spin Bonus game is a Money Train 2 inspired bonus where chips that were once docile become active with features.

To trigger this feature, you’ll need to land 5 or more chips of any variety in the Base Game.

You’ll start with only one life, and lives are only lost when no chips land.

Here are what the different coloured chips do:

  • Green Chip: Awards a Coin Value
  • Purple Chip (Sniper): Doubles the value of between 1 and 3 chips
  • Black Chip (Collector): Collects all visible coin values except its own

Each chip has the potential to award extra lives. This will be shown as a heart beside the Chip.

The Chip Spin bonus game can certainly be exciting, but in all honestly, we’re not sure why Relax Gaming didn’t just opt for 3 lives that reset once every chip lands.

If you gain an extra life and you’re left with only 1, landing a regular chip won’t reset the count to 2, it just won’t take your remaining life.

This bonus is a very simplified Money Train Bonus in hindsight, and don’t get us wrong, it can be very exciting, but it can also be over frustratingly quickly. As mentioned, lives can land with any chip so so if you get a few lives behind you then this can turn out to be incredibly exciting, sometimes.

Let’s roll the dice once more and see what the Free Spins has to offer

Chip Spin Chip Bonus

Chip Spin: Free Spins

Free Spins are awarded by landing 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere in view. 8 spins are awarded, but +2 spins are awarded for each additional scatter after the third.

This mode once again features Chips with power-ups:

  • Green Chip – Awards an extra spin
  • Purple Chip – Increases the Multiplier by +1
  • Black Chip – Converts to a Sticky Wild.

As implicated by the name, the Sticky Wild will persist for the remainder of the round. Lots of multipliers, extra spins and plenty of sticky wilds makes Chip Spin a very potential rich bonus round.

Even if you have a particular fondness for Money Train 2, it’s hard to deny that this mode is much more exciting.

Chip Spin Free Spins

Chip Spin: Bonus Buy

Relax Gaming have implemented a bonus buy option into Chip Spin, which means that players outside of the UK can jump straight in on the action with a seat at the Poker table!

You’ll be able to choose between Free Spins or Chip Spin here, which cost 90x and 70x respectively.

Chip Spin: Our Verdict

Chip Spin is another from Relax Gaming that showcases their brilliance in what they do, and while the Chip Bonus has some disappointing aspects, its hard to ignore the potential even if it doesn’t quite live up to Money Train 2.

The Base Game can be very lacklustre at times, but the Chip Spin Bonus round and Free Spins round both get your blood pumping, especially if you consider the 25,000x maximum win capability. Through testing this slot, we had bonuses on both modes that turned out to be stinkers, and bonuses that really showcased the potential of the game, but that’s the nature of slots after all.

The RTP of Chip spin looks pretty solid at 96.41%, and the hit frequency of 19.15% isn’t amazing, but it isn’t awful either. The average win from Free Spins sits at around 86.39x, which won’t be the massive boom that you’re looking for but not entirely disappointing, unless you bought the Free Spins for 90x that is in which case you’d have lost money.

Overall, Chip Spin is a perfectly entertaining instalment from Relax Gaming with some great features, a solid concept and a great design. Will it go the distance as one of the best Relax Gaming have ever made? Probably not. It’s great to see the Money Train 2 influence but the diluted version of it has you longing for some of the features that they didn’t include.
