The title Big Boom Riches doesn’t give you much to go on when considering the theme, although there is a hint in the name you wouldn’t necessarily think it was based around Mining.

However, once you load Big Boom Riches up you are greeted by an ‘Old Timer’ Miner named Old Smokey, with barrels of dynamite in each of the bottom corners.

Looking further into the background, you will notice familiarities in association with Mining, for instance, the wooden Mine track, the barrels of dynamite and the breathtaking scenic views of the American Frontier.

Once the game is loaded up, you are greeted by Old Smokey himself ‘Welcoming Miners’ to his mind-blowing, gold-digging extravaganza.

During gameplay, you will hear a happy go lucky tune played throughout that is very fitting for the overall theme. Sound effects are on point, with the loud ‘Booming’ of TNT exploding and the sharp but swift drops of symbols cascading on the reels.

We’ve seen this style of theme in other slots before, so it’s hard to appreciate the freshness of Big Boom Riches, but where it lacks in originality it certainly makes up for it in other ways.

Big Boom Riches is extremely entertaining in some ways, yet woefully predictable in others. The gameplay aspects of this slot are very good, and they’re especially appealing if you prefer your slots to be more simple. 

Theme-wise, we’ve seen this sort of thing time and time again as a story told through countless slots that came before it. 

Despite lacking on the imagination front, you can’t help but appreciate what Just For The Win has created when you look at the potential. 5,000x is the maximum win capabilities of this slot, which is by no means small.

Overall, there’s something strangely appealing about Big Boom Riches.
