Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch Base Game and Features
Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch is a 5-reel slot with 12 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols (or 2 or more of the highest-paying symbol) land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.20% and a max win cap of 3,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Seagull, followed by Can of Worms, Harpoon, and Anchor. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. There are no Wilds present.
Above the reel set sits 2 Boats which can activate on any random base game spin. If special Fish symbols known as Catch symbols land directly underneath an active Boat, their Values will be automatically collected and applied to the total win.
Catch symbols can appear with a random value between 1x and 50x your bet.
When both Boats come together above the same reel, the Colossal Catch feature is triggered. Once active, all Catch symbols that land across all 5 reels will be collected and added to the total win for that spin.
Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch Free Spins
Landing 3 or more Scatters across the reels during the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins. Landing 4 or 5 Scatters will award a payout of 20x and 100x your bet respectively.
During Free Spins, both Boats are permanently active on every Free Spin. Catch symbols that land directly below Boat symbols will be collected and applied to the total win.
If both Boats come together above the same reel, the Colossal Catch feature will trigger and all Catch symbols across all 5 reels are collected and applied to the total win.
During this time, an additional Catch symbol is available. The Swordfish symbol can only be collected by an active Boat directly above the reel it is currently on. Once collected, it will increase the Level of the Colossal Catch Multiplier above the reel set.
The Colossal Catch Multiplier will be applied to all Colossal Catch wins during this time. A total of 3 Swordfish symbols are required in order to increase the Colossal Catch Multiplier to the next available Level, up to a maximum of x25.
Once a Multiplier level has been reached, an additional +8 Free Spins are awarded (The last level awards an additional +2 Free Spins).
Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch: Our Verdict
Boat Bonanza didn’t quite throw us in the deep end as the theme suggests, but instead, Play’n GO took us on a jolly fishing trip when the ocean was calm for a rather peaceful and serene spot of fishing. If a relaxing fishing trip with a few mates and beers is what you need, Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch is just the ticket.
Like the original, Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch shouldn’t be marked down for its laid-back appearance or simplistic gameplay, but rather a welcome change from fishing slots like Big Bass Bonanza and Fishin’ Frenzy that are quite full-on at times.
We’ve said it before and we will say it again, both Boat Bonanza titles give off a little bit of nostalgia, back to a time when you could only get your gambling fix from Bookies with its classic design yet modern graphics and features.
Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch may look identical to the original, but there are a few noticeable differences in gameplay. Play’n GO has switched out Boat Multipliers and Respins for a Colossal Catch feature, but it doesn’t stray far from the Mega Catch feature seen in the original.
What does catch our attention is the differences in max win capabilities, and not in a good way. Boat Bonanza set the stage with a 5,000x max win cap, but Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch seems to fall short with 3,000x as the best it can do.
Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch comes with both its negatives and positives, but if it’s anything like the original, it’s a trip worth taking at least once!
