Devil’s Trap Slot Review 2022
In the spirit of Halloween, Stakelogic is back with their own spooky new release that is all treat and no trick, in Devil’s Trap!
The title Devil’s Trap suggests that we are in for a pretty terrifying time, but for those that scare easily, you will be pleased to know that it’s pretty tame compared to what you had envisioned. It is of course a Halloween-themed slot so you can expect a few creepy crawlies, Pumpkins and snakes in teacups?
In terms of design, the background shows a spooky and possibly abandoned fun fair, with an array of stalls, rollercoasters and a few less-than-impressed ghosts floating in the distance. This particular scene is similar to that of Play’n GO’s The Wild Class, but with quite a different story behind it.
With so many brilliant titles under their belts, has Stakelogic managed to pull it off once again in Devil’s Trap? Let’s play on and find out!
Devil’s Trap Base Game and Features
Devil’s Trap is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Devil’s Trap has a theoretical RTP of 96.26% and a maximum win capacity of 10,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Devil’s Trap is the Crow, followed by the Hand, Snake and Spider. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten. There is also a Wild symbol present which substitutes for all other symbols except Scatters.
Landing 3 Scatters across the reels doesn’t always guarantee the Free Spins round will trigger. Instead, you will be met with a Bonus Reel that covers the first 2 reels which can award one of the following.
- An instant prize of x2, x5, x10, x20, x50, x100 or x200 your current bet.
- A respin that delivers between 3 and 10 random Wild symbols across the reels.
- Triggers the free spins round, awarding either 10, 15 or 20 Free Spins.
Devil’s Trap Free Spins
If the Free Spins round is awarded during the Bonus Reel feature, you will start the round with either 10, 15 or 20 Free Spins. Alternatively, you can buy your way into the Free Spins round through the Bonus Buy option (for those outside the UK).
The Bonus Reel feature is also available in the Free Spins round and has the ability to award additional Free Spins. During Free Spins, an extra reel is added to the far right that houses Multiplier values between 0 and x100. Each time the reels spin, the win Multiplier reel will reveal one of its Multiplier values which is then applied to any wins for that particular spin.
Also during Free Spins, you will come across Nudging Wilds in stacks of 2 and 3 symbols.
Each time a Nudging Wild lands partially in view across the top 2 rows, there is a chance it will nudge down to fill the entire reel. Nudging Wilds can appear at any time during the Free Spins round and is available on all 5 reels.
Devil’s Trap Bonus Buy
For those of you who are outside the UK, you will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Here you will have a choice of 4 options, as follows.
- Option 1 – Awards 10 Free Spins for a total cost of 100x your current bet.
- Option 2 – Awards 15 Free Spins for a total cost of 250x your current bet.
- Option 3 – Awards 20 Free Spins for a total cost of 500x your current bet.
- Option 4 (Mystery) – Awards one of the above number of Free Spins at random for a total cost of 225x your current bet.
Devil’s Trap: Our Verdict
With Halloween just around the corner, Providers are quick to jump on board the spooky train in a bid to release their own terrifying slots that will surely scare the socks off its players, but Stakelogic has chosen to keep Devil’s Trap relatively mild in terms of scare factor.
Although Devil’s Trap may not be as chilling as other Halloween slots, we’ve learnt that you should never judge a book by its cover. Devil’s Trap is slightly different to that of other Stakelogic titles in that it doesn’t feature the Super Stake option we’ve gotten so used to seeing in their slots.
The base game can be a little simple at times, but quickly picks up when the Bonus Reel is triggered by landing 3 Scatters across the reels, which can deliver cash prizes, respins and the Free Spins round. The Bonus Reel is the only way in which the Free Spins round can be awarded (unless you have access to the Bonus Buy), so if you’re looking for a slot that guarantees free spins when Scatters land, you may find that Devil’s Trap is not for you.
Overall, Devil’s Trap stands out as a prime choice for those seeking those spooky seasonal slots, and it’s good enough to keep in mind all year round.
