Horror Hotel Base Game and Features

Horror Hotel is a 6×6 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. Winning combinations are formed when 5 or more of the same symbols land either Vertically or Horizontally to one another across the grid.

The minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€50 per spin, with plenty of other options inbetween the two. Horror Hotel has a theoretical RTP of 96.17% and a max win cap of 20,000x.

Mystery Symbol Feature

Horror Hotel features Cascading Reels. Each time a winning combination forms, all winning symbols except those in the Mystery Symbol feature will be removed from the grid.

The Mystery Symbol feature is triggered on any win. Once active, winning clusters will be hidden behind a question mark and drop to the bottom of the grid, whilst new symbols will drop from above.

Once new symbols has dropped, the cluster of Mystery Symbols will reveal the same High or Low-paying symbol, forming a new winning cluster. This feature will continue as long as new cluster wins are formed during the Respin or if a non converted symbol contrubutes to the mystery symbol reveal.

Landing 3 or more Scatters across the grid in any position triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 5 Free Spins. Each additional Scatter after the third will award an extra +1 Free Spin to your total.

Horror Hotel: Our Verdict

Horror Hotel is another smash hit. It’s got amazing potential with up to 20,000x as a maximum win, and both the Base Game and Free Spins feel very exciting.

It almost feels like there was loose inspiration from Santa’s Stack in a way. Santa’s Stack would also hide winning symbols behind mystery frames before revealing them for a grand reveal. If the stars aligned, then the wins could be huge with a full screen of symbols. Horror Hotel is certainly much different from Santa’s Stack in many ways, but the way in which they’ve tailored mystery symbols for this game is to be admired.

As mentioned, Horror Hotel feels a bit late with a release date of January 2023. It would have been the best Halloween Slot for 2022 and even a contender for slot of the year if it had released earlier, but its good enough to be relevant all year round, and it could well turn into a 2023 favourite.

It really feels like Relax Gaming have hit their stride with game after game that evokes pure excitement. Their ‘tirade’ of greatness doesn’t seem to be stopping; if anything their appeal seems to be growing with unstoppable momentum.
