Ganesha which is also known as Ganapati, symbolises Wisdom and is one of the most worshipped deities in the Hindu Pantheon. Recognisable by his Elephant head, Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles and the son of Shiva, Hindu God of Destruction. It is said that Shiva cosidered Ganesha much too alluring and so gave him the head of an Elephant with a protruding belly.

Play’n GO has gone to great lengths to capture the beauty of India in Idol of Fortune, which really shows in the design. Idol of Fortune is positvely glowing with beauty and vibrant colouring, along with a perfect selection of symbols and Ganesha himself taking his rightful place above the reels. There is nothing bad to be said about the design of Idol of Fortune, but will we be equally as impressed with what’s on offer in gameplay?

Idol of Fortune Base Game and Features

Idol of Fortune is a 5 reel slot with 243 ways to win. In order to form a winnning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with other options in between the two.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Idol of Fortune is the Elephant, followed by the Lion, Bird, Snake and Rat. Low paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters.

The Gold Reel and Wild Prize features are relatively new to Play’n GO titles, with both of these first making their appearance in Safari of Wealth. We certainly loved what they could do and so we’re confident that we will love what they can do here also. More on these below.

Gold Reel

During any random spin in the base game, between 1 and 5 reels can become Gold Reels.

Landing a Wild symbol inside one or more of the Gold Reels, automatically triggers the Wild Prizes feature.

Wild Prizes

Once a Wild symbol lands in a Gold Reel, the Wild Prize feature is activated.

There are 4 unique Wild Prizes up for grabs, these are as follows.

• Wild Prize 1 – Awards 10x your current bet.
• Wild Prize 2 – Awards 25x your current bet.
• Wild Prize 3 – Awards 500x your current bet.
• Wild Prize 4 – Awards 5,000x your current bet.

Once active, you will be met with a series of Coin symbols. To determine which Wild Prize you will be awarded, you must continue to choose Coin symbols until 3 of the same symbol type is found, which will then award the corresponding Wild Prize.

Please note that Wild Prizes cannot be won during the Free Spins round.

Idol of Fortune Free Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round and awards 5x, 10x and 50x your current bet respectively. Once triggered you will be given a choice of 6 Free Spins options, these are as follows.

• Option 1 – 20 Free Spins with 8 Mystery Symbols on the reels.
• Option 2 – 15 Free Spins with 18 Mystery symbols on the reels.

Mystery Symbols

Mystery symbols are only available during the Free Spins round, which can appear on any of the reels.

When Mystery symbols appear, they will Stick and Spread vertically up or down between Free Spins, eventually filling the entire reel before disappearing. Mystery symbols will alwayd reveal the same symbol type (excluding Scatters).

Please note that Free Spins cannot be retrigged during this round.

Idol of Fortune: Our Verdict

You can tell straight away that Play’n GO has given Idol of Fortune the time and attention it deserved just by looking at it. The graphics are of a high quality and the theme itself has been very well executed, but it almost feels like Play’n GO were holding back a little in terms of gameplay.

Indian themes are not one that gets touched upon much in slots and so it’s nice to see Play’n GO dive into the unknown and give it a good go, and it certainly makes a change from the Egyptian and Chinese themes we see so much of. For those of you who love to experience the different cultures of the world, you will find Idol of Fortune not only visually pleasing but somewhat educational too.

The Gold Reel and Wild Prize features is still very new to Play’n GO titles, with Safari of Wealth being the first to embrace the new change, but is it as good as we remember? We think so. You don’t quite get the buzz that you did when it was brand new, but the appealing value of the Wild Prizes still gets you a little giddy.

In terms of statistics, Idol of Fortune has an above average RTP of 96.20% and an equally standard maximum win capacity of 10,000x. If you’re looking for a new slot that can deliver in ways that a Nolimit City title can, then Idol of Fortune may not be the one for you.
