Monopoly on the Money Deluxe Slot Review 2024
Light & Wonder’s collection of Monopoly titles is expanding once more with Monopoly on the Money Deluxe!
Monopoly is a multi-player board game derived from The Landlord’s Game that dates back to 1903, created by Lizzie Magie in the hopes of explaining the single-tax theory of Political Economist Henry George.
The original Landlord’s Game had two sets of rules in play, one with tax and the other on which the current rules are now based, but when the Parker Brothers first published Monopoly in 1935, the board game did not feature the taxation rule, resulting in more aggressive gameplay. Parker Brothers eventually became a part of Hasbro in 1991.
Monopoly has caused many arguments amongst family and friends in its time, resulting in the board game being flung across the table on Christmas day, and causing even the most strong-willed players to rage quit under pressure, but will Light & Wonder’s version be a little more player-friendly?
Let’s roll the dice and find out!
Monopoly on the Money Deluxe Base Game and Features
Monopoly on the Money Deluxe is a 5-reel slot with 10 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.00% and a max win cap of 5,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying symbol here is the Monopoly Logo, followed by the Hat, Cat, and Dog Pieces. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, and Nine. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatter and Mr. Monopoly symbols.
Premium Play
Before you can begin spinning, you will be given the option to activate the Premium Play feature, which is an alternative way of playing the game.
Activating the Premium Play feature will deactivate all win lines and High and Low-paying symbols, leaving only Cash and Mr. Monopoly symbols in play.
Cash symbols will not pay out as part of a win line, instead, they will only be collected by the Mr. Monopoly symbols. When Premium Play is active, the frequency of the Mr. Monopoly symbol and Free Spins feature is increased.
Cash Symbols
During the base game, up to 3 different Cash symbols can randomly appear on any of the 5 reels. While all 3 Cash symbols are visually different, they all behave as the same symbol regarding win lines. Each different Cash symbol can be involved in the same win line.
Each Cash symbol is equipped with a Multiplier value between x2 and x50. Multipliers can only be awarded when a Mr. Monopoly symbol lands in view at the same time.
- Blue Cash Symbol – Lands with a Multiplier of x2, x2, x4, and x5.
- Purple Cash Symbol – Lands with a Multiplier of x10, x15, and x20.
- Yellow Cash Symbol – Lands with a Multiplier of x25, x30, x40, and x50.
Mr. Monopoly
The Mr. Monopoly symbol is a special symbol that is present on all 5 reels.
If 1 or more Mr. Monopoly symbols land across the reels at the same time as any Cash symbols, it will automatically Collect all Multiplier values present on the Cash symbols, add them together, and pay their values with any other winning combinations.
If any Cash symbols land across the reels without a visible Mr. Monopoly symbol, 1 or more High or Low-paying symbols will be chosen at random to be replaced with Mr. Monopoly symbols. This can only occur in the base game with or without the Premium Play feature active.
Monopoly on the Money Deluxe Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 GO Scatters triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8, 10, and 12 Free Spins respectively.
During Free Spins, if any Mr. Monopoly symbols land on reels 2, 3, and 4, they automatically become Persistent symbols and remain in their position for the duration of Free Spins.
If 2 or more GO Scatters land in view during this time, you will be awarded +1 additional Free Spin per Scatter. Please note, the Persistent Mr. Monopoly symbols may be visually different, but they act in the same way when collecting Cash symbols.
Monopoly on the Money Deluxe Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Light & Wonder has granted players access to the Free Spins round for a total cost of 50x your current bet, triggering between 3 and 5 Scatters to land in view.
Monopoly on the Money Deluxe: Our Verdict
The Monopoly franchise is a long-running series from Light & Wonder, and Monopoly On The Money Deluxe seems ‘On the Money’ yet again as another attractive instalment.
With a simple yet effective Cash Collect feature, Monopoly on the Money Deluxe will appeal to seasoned players and beginners alike. There’s one or two in the Light & Wonder catalogue that stand out more to us, like Monopoly Utility Trails, but overall, Monopoly on the Money Deluxe feels like a solid game with decent features to draw in an audience that isn’t expecting overly grandiose, complicated or confusing features.
Branded games are usually hit or miss in our opinion, but Light & Wonder seem quite adept. Cluedo Mighty Ways is a fine example of this, and their work with other Monopoly games and the Rainbow Riches series makes them quite prominent leaders for branded games.
Overall, we think Monopoly on the Money Deluxe has a lot of appeal. It’s not going to stick out in anyone’s mind as an ‘A-list’ slot, but all of the basics are done well, and there are additional extras to further bolster its appeal.
