NSYNC Pop Slot Review 2022
Ditch your 2022 outfit for something a little more retro, Play’n GO has got us front row tickets to see one of the biggest boybands of the 90’s, in NSYNC Pop!
NSYNC, also known as N-sync is a popular American boyband that was formed in the mid 90’s by Chris Kirkpatrick in Florida. Their first album was successfully released to European countries in 1997, which featured one of their popular song titles, ‘I Want You Back’. NSYNC quickly became one of the most popular boybands in the world, with song titles such as ‘Bye Bye Bye’, ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Pop’ reaching the top 10 in several international music charts.
Play’n GO is one of the best providers to deliver branded slots, and they’re very good at it too. Def Leppard: Hysteria, KISS Reels of Rock and Lordi Reel Monsters are just a fraction of the music-band inspired titles out there, but will NSYNC Pop be as successful as the boyband was all those years ago?
NSYNC Pop is every teenage girls dream, if only they were old enough to play. Like many of Play’n GO’s branded titles, each one is suitable for a certain kind of player, heavy metal fans are instantly drawn to KISS Reels of Rock, Def Leppard: Hysteria and Lordi, whereas Pop fans will no doubt choose NSYNC Pop and others like it.
In terms of design, the background shows the inside of a concert, which is packed out with lusty teenagers and chaperoning parents no doubt. Bright lights and a smoky atmosphere can be seen, along with the DJ booth which is playing their hit single ‘Pop’ on a loop. It wouldn’t be a branded slot without the band members, and all 5 of them appear as high-paying symbols on the reels.
Will NSYNC Pop bring back the magic of the 90’s? Let’s play on and find out!
NSYNC Pop Base Game and Features
NSYNC Pop is a 5 reel slot with up to 2,400 ways to win. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in NSYNC Pop is band member Justin, followed by band members Lance, JC, Joey and Chris. Low-paying symbols fall to Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters.
NSYNC Pop has a very interesting Pop Feature in both the base game and free spins, which brings some much-needed excitement to an otherwise bland base game. More on this below.
During any random spin in the base game, Pop symbols in the form of purple circles can appear.
Once this happens, at the end of the spin they will pop to reveal the same High or Low-paying symbol, excluding Scatters.
NSYNC Pop Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8 Free Spins.
During the Free Spins round, each of the 5 reels has an inactive Pop symbol, positioned at the top and bottom of each reel. Whenever a Pop symbol lands in view, it will automatically trigger the the Pop symbol above or below it to reveal the same High or Low paying symbols. Once the idle Pop symbols become active, this is now an additonal reel position for symbols to land for the duration of Free Spins.
In addition to this, Wild Pop symbols can also appear during Free Spins, which always reveal a Sticky Wild. The sticky Wild symbol will remain in its fixed position for the duration of Free Spins. Wild Pop symbols will also activate any Pop symbols above or below it, revealing a High or Low-paying symbol and increasing the reel height, up to 2,400 ways.
If all 10 Pop symbols are revealed on the reels during Free Spins, an Encore Spin is automatically awarded once all Free Spins are complete.
Once an Encore Spin is awarded, only High-paying band member symbols are in play. Any Sticky Wilds that happen to be present, will remain in their fixed position furing this feature. The Encore Spins feature is played out on fully expanded reels with 2,400 ways.
NSYNC Pop: Our Verdict
NSYNC Pop is a cringe fest if we ever saw one…but you might just love it if you’re a 90’s baby.
If a sleep paralysis demon should strike us in our sleep, we’re pretty sure it would just be Justin Timberlake stood at the foot of our bed. Unable to speak, move or scream, we’d endure what seems like hours of ‘Bye Bye Bye’ before we awake drenched in sweat and with a compulsive fear of boy bands.
We’re joking, of course, but we will stick by our guns when we say that NSYNC Pop is a little cringe, but wasn’t everything that we used to like, now that you look back on it? We can’t say we’re die-hard fans of the boy band craze of the 90’s, but there might be some out there ready and willing to accept NSYNC Pop as their new guilty pleasure.
Why not relive the 90’s, after all? Simpler were the days of Pogs, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and boy bands. Given the choice now, we’d travel back and listen to NSYNC on repeat if Nicki Minaj is the alternative.
What about gameplay though? It’s not entirely fair to judge NSYNC Pop on its theme alone, after all. Gameplay can certainly be entertaining, and the potential here is pretty good too at 5,000x as a maximum figure. It’s sort of hard to envision how it might reach such a high win, to be honest, but its certainly capable of some nice hits.
There’s plenty to experience in the Base Game too, or enough to keep you entertained anyway. The Pop Feature is a nice little addition, but you’ll still be wanting of the bonus and the Encore Spin if you’re lucky enough to get it.
