If you’re not familair with Japanese Folklore, an Oni is a type of demonic creature that is giant sized and has immense strength. Oni’s are known to be cruel, malicious and have a particularly ugly appearance. Oni Hunters are special warriors of the Kuni family, who entered the Shadowlands on a quest to hunt down Oni.

The background in Oni Hunter Plus is very visable, this is due to the fact that the reel frame is extremely tiny even in full screen mode. This may be enough to put players off entirely. The background shows a lucious green field surrounded by beautiful bamboo trees, other than this there isn’t a whole lot more to look at.

The music playing throughout is impressive, its catchy and upbeat and definitely fits in with the Japanese style theme. Sound effects remind us of a vintage pinball machine, but work nicely with the theme nonetheless.

All in all, Oni Hunter Plus looks and feels very very old school compared to other slots, if you have an appreciation for a simple yet vintage type of slot, then Oni Hunter Plus is the one for you.

Oni Hunter Plus Our Verdict

Oni Hunter Plus is definitely a strange one, and it’s certainly not for everyone, then again, Japanese themes aren’t sometimes. There’s certainly a group of players who adore everything Asian, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t fascinated ourselves.

Oni Hunter gives us that fix for a Japanese style slot, and the artwork is absolutely superb. Too be honest, we don’t think we’ve seen an Anime style game that looks as good as this one.

In terms of actual gameplay, Oni Hunter plus is relatively low potential with a 1,000x maximum win, but it is only a 3 reel slot after all, so you can’t really expect too much. It’s also a nice touch that there’s a bonus buy option too, but sadly UK players won’t benefit from this.

Overall, Oni Hunter Plus certainly isn’t a completely innovative masterpiece, but it’s definitely worth a ‘flutter’, as they say.
