The legendary Raging Rex is back and this time he’s joined by an army of hatchlings, in Play’n GO’s latest Jurassic release, Raging Rex 2!

Make sure you’re wearing sensible shoes, Raging Rex and his hatchlings are on the hunt and they’re very hungry. Play’n GO has revived a prehistoric favourite and created a bigger and much better sequel.

Raging Rex 2 has an impressive 4,096 ways to win plus a chance to win a mighty 30,000x! Like the original, Raging Rex 2 has a Walking Wild Respins round which features Rex as a Stacked Wild, only this time there’s the pitter patter of baby Wilds that walk alongside him.

In terms of theme, Raging Rex 2 certainly looks a lot more sophisticated than the first. The graphics are up to date, the layout is tidy and the overall design is great. Although Play’n GO has made a few tweaks and changes to the design, certain parts have remained the same, particularly the symbols.

Raging Rex 2 Betting and Symbols

Raging Rex 2 has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.

The highest paying regular symbol in Raging Rex 2 is the Ankylosaurus, followed by the Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus and the Pachycephalosaurus, or in simpler terms, a selection of really old Dinosaurs. Lower paying symbols fall to a selection of Dinosaur Fossils. The Red Fossil has the highest pay value, followed by the Orange, Dark Green, Blue, Light Green and Grey Fossil symbols.

Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Scatters. Rex and Hatchling symbols all represent Wilds.

Raging Rex 2 Base Game and Features

Raging Rex 2 is a 6 reel slot with 4,096 ways to win. In order to form a win, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

Play’n GO has taken the Walking Wilds feature from the original, upgraded it and included it in Raging Rex 2. More on this below.

Respins Feature

Landing a Rex symbol fully in view between reels 2 and 6, triggers the Respins feature.

Once active, the Wild Rex symbol will become Sticky and will jump from reel to reel in a bid to form winning combinations.

In addition to this, all Wild Hatchling symbols that land will also become Sticky and will jump in tune with Rex, from one reel to the next.

Up to 5 Respins can be awarded, but this is dependent on where the Wild Rex symbol lands on the reels originally.

Raging Rex 2 Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round. The number of Free Spins awarded depends on the Bonus round you opt for, including the number of triggering Scatters.

All triggering Scatters award a bet payout. 3, 4, 5 and 6 Scatters pay 5x, 10x, 25x and 100x respectively.

Once Free Spins are triggered, you will need to choose from the list below, your Bonus round.

Primal Fury

Landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 Scatters, awards 8, 12, 16 and 20 Free Spins respectively. During this round, a Wild Rex symbol becomes Sticky and moves in any direction he chooses. All Wild Hatchlings that land do not become Sticky and will leave on the next Free Spin. Landing between 2 and 6 Scatters in the Bonus round, awards between +6 and +18 additional Free Spins.

Hatchling Mania

Landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 Scatters, awards 7, 9, 11 and 13 Free Spins respectively. During this round, Wild Hatchlings become Sticky and may jump to a new position on the reels. Wild Rex symbols are not present during this Bonus round. Hatchlings may also present themselves with a x2 or x3 Multiplier, which can Multiply together if they are both part of a winning combination. Landing between 2 and 6 Scatters in this round, awards between +4 and +12 additional Free Spins.

Jurassic Mayhem

Landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 Scatters, awards 5, 7, 9 and 11 Free Spins respectively. During this round, All Rex and Hatchling Wilds become Sticky and may randomly jump to a new position. Landing between 2 and 6 Scatters in the bonus round, awards between +2 and +6 additional Free Spins.

Raging Rex 2: Our Verdict

Raging Rex was a firm fan favourite, and at this point it’s sort of a legacy title given its age. When we heard about Raging Rex 2, we were tremendously excited to see how the sequel presents itself, and if it can fill the shoes of the ever popular original.

The graphical superiority of the sequel is evident straight from the get-go. You really feel like you’re getting a refreshed perspective of a prehistoric title.

In terms of gameplay, there’s quite a lot here that has stayed relatively consistent. If you’re in a camp of players that don’t approve when a provider tries to deviate too much from the original formula, then you’ll very much like how Play’n GO has handled Raging Rex 2. There are few new additions, such as the Hatchlings, but the real stand out point from our perspective is the dramatically improved win potential.

It’s said that Raging Rex 2 is capable of 30,000x, and although we doubt we’ll ever see it, we definitely won’t deny that Raging Rex 2 is leaps and bounds better than the original.
