Push Gaming’s Bamboo series returns with an iconic twist in Bamboo Ways. Since the release of Jammin’ Jars, Push Gaming has been on our radar as one of the best software developers in the iGaming industry.
One thing we admire about Push Gaming is their ability to create highly engaging, innovative features and mechanics. After the release of Razor Shark, we couldn’t have imagined which way Push Gaming would take future releases, but alas, we’re about to indulge in a game with a familiar Asian theme and unique features to Big Bamboo, alongside a new Expander symbol.
Bamboo Ways blends some of our favourite push Gaming releases, with certain attributes connected to Razor Ways. In this game, players will be thrilled to see the return of Golden Bamboo Icons, Mystery symbols, and up to 46,656 ways to win.
After a brief stint of ‘3 Pots’ releases, it seems as though Push Gaming has got their mojo back, engaging players in an action-packed slot with unique and recognisable features. The stunning artwork and animations offer a nostalgic vibe to Big Bambook, while the symbolic Panda remains the most important symbol on the reels.
With a fixed RTP of 96.30% and a medium volatility rating, Bamboo Ways can produce max win payouts of 25,000x your bet.
We’re fairly certain what to expect with an amalgamation between the two Push classics, but let’s explore it in detail.
Base Game & Features
Bamboo Ways is a medium volatility release from Push Gaming, featuring 6 reels, adjustable rows, and up to 46,656 ways to win. Wins occur when 2-6 matching symbols land across reels 1-6, starting from reel 1.
The Panda has the highest pay value, awarding a fixed win configuration between 0.5x and 8x your bet. The 10 remaining symbols reveal payouts between 0.1x and 3x your bet, where applicable.
In addition, Wild symbols persist throughout spins, substituting for all symbols except Mystery symbols, Scatters, and Instant Prizes. A game round begins as a 6×3 matrix, which can expand to 6×6 when all 3 locked rows are activated.
When a winning combination occurs, the Avalanche Feature removes all winning symbols, causing the next available row to unlock from above the current matrix. When a new row is unlocked, so too are additional ways to win, up to a maximum of 46,656 ways to win.
At the start of the next spin, the current matrix resets back to 6×3.
Expanding Wild
Throughout spins, a special Expanding Wild may land in the base game or Free Spins mode. When it does, the positions it covers will also act as Wild, expanding to cover unlocked rows. The Expanding Wild may also reveal a random Multiplier of x2, x3, and x5.
Wild Converter
When the Wild Converter symbol appears in view, it will spin through a series of paytable symbols that are available on unlocked rows of the current spin. Once a paytable symbol is revealed, all instances of that type will transform into Wilds, including the Wild Converter symbol.
Mystery & Expander Symbols
With each spin, Mystery symbols in the form of Bamboo can appear on random reel positions. When they hit, they reveal the same high or low-paying symbol in order to create or enhance winning combinations. This feature is available in the base game and Free Spins mode.
In addition, special Expander symbols can cause the current Mystery symbols to expand in a random direction to fill the row or unlocked part of the reel. After expansion, each Mystery symbol that reveals an Expander will close to reveal the same paytable symbol as all the others.
Golden Bamboo
After a group of Mystery symbols have landed on the reels, they may go on to reveal Golden Bamboo Icons. When the Golden Bamboo feature triggers, each position containing a Golden Bamboo will spin through a series of Prizes:
- Instant Prizes: Between 1x and 1,000x your bet
- Multipliers: Apply a value between x2 and x10 to all instant prizes and collector symbols before being removed from the reels.
- Collectors: Collect the value of all instant prizes and other collector symbols, causing them to be removed from the reels after collection. All empty positions will spin through the available Prizes again.
- Converter: Spins through paytable symbols, excluding Wilds, that are available on unlocked rows. The chosen paytable symbol from the Converter will transform all instances into Golden Bamboo Icons, including itself.
- Scatters: Unlock the Free Spins mode when 3 or more are visible on the reels.
- Row Unlock: Unlocks the next available locked row, after which the Row Unlocker symbol is removed.
Bamboo Ways Free Spins
When 3 or more Scatters land anywhere in the base game, the Free Spins mode is triggered, awarding the following outcomes:
- 3 Scatters: Award 6 Free Spins, a x1 Multiplier, and a 6×3 matrix
- 4 Scatters: Award 8 Free Spins, a x2 Multiplier, a 6×4 matrix, and 1 low-paying symbol removed
- 5 Scatters: Award 10 Free Spins, a x3 Multiplier, a 6×5 matrix, and 2 low-paying symbols removed
- 6 Scatters: Award 10 Free Spins, a x5 Multiplier, a 6×6 matrix, and 3 low-paying symbols removed
During this mode, each Scatter symbol is collected and stored within the Level Meter. When 4 Scatters are collected, the next level is triggered, awarding the following benefits:
- Level 2: Awards +4 Free Spins and the 4-scatter trigger modifications
- Level 3: Awards +3 Free Spins and the 5-scatter trigger modifications
- Level 4: Awards +3 Free Spins and the 6-scatter trigger modifications
- Level 5: Awards +2 Free Spins, a x10 Multiplier, and the removal of all low-paying symbols
Finally, landing Golden Bamboo Icons may award an additional +1 to +3 Free Spins.

Bamboo Ways has a maximum win capacity of 25,000x your bet. If a single game mode exceeds this, the current round ends, and the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.
Our Honest Verdict
Bamboo Ways was entirely predictable in some ways, thanks to its name and its distinctive look. A mere glance at Bamboo Ways gives the game away that it is, in fact, a Razor Ways follow-up, but with their Big Bamboo IP.
This isn’t a bad thing, of course. In fact, we’d say it’s one of Push Gaming’s most anticipated titles. Razor Ways was a highly exciting game, though it was initially a bit marmite because of its stark differences to the highly volatile Razor Shark releases. Given a chance, Razor Ways turned out to be quite enjoyable, and we think Bamboo Ways is even more enjoyable.
Its a versatile slot with plenty of action. It has revealing symbols, multipliers, converters, instant prizes, additional rows to unlock to make it even more capable and multiple levels in free spins, making it an explosive powerhouse.
Bamboo Ways strikes a perfect chord with gameplay that just keeps you engaged. For us, that’s what is all about – engagement. Nobody wants a boring base game and few will force themselves through it just for the sake of a potentially exciting bonus. It has to be exciting from the off, and Bamboo Ways certainly is.
Its 25,000x win cap feels quite attainable, which is another testament to its exciting features, and overall, it’s a very promising release from Push Gaming, after what has admittedly been a bit of a dry spell from them.
