Beast Gains by Relax Gaming continues a series that started with Beast Mode and Net Gains, which itself loosely followed on from Iron Bank, another tremendously popular release in Relax Gaming’s catalogue.
If there is one thing Relax Gaming does well, it’s series and sequels. We’ve seen the Money Train series soar to unprecedented popularity, and we’ve seen slots like Bill and Coin 2 and Snake Arena 2 significantly improve on and build upon the foundations laid by their predecessors.
So far, it’s been an upward graph. New is almost always better, but is Beast Gains? Relax Gaming may deserve the benefit of the doubt, but the newest entry in the series also deserves a meticulous examination to see where exactly it has improved, if at all.
Base Game & Features
Beast Gains is a highly volatile 6-reel, 4-row video slot with 4,096 ways to win. Wins occur when 3-6 matching symbols land on adjoining reels, starting from the leftmost (or reel 1).
The Lion has the highest pay value, followed by the Lion, Crocodile, Rhino, & Shark Aztec Masks. Other symbols include card suits A, K, Q, J, & 10. When a win is confirmed, each winning combination awards a fixed payout between 0.1x and 25x your bet. Additionally, Wilds substitute for all symbols as part of the same win.
After each win, the Avalanche Feature creates space for new symbols to land by removing winning ones. This continues until no further wins occur in the same spin.
Feature Trail
Above the reels of each game session is a special Feature Trail filled with 12 Modifiers. The Feature Trail is active in both the Base Game & Free Spins mode, activating the following Modifiers when they reach the leftmost position:
- Bomb: Positions a single Mystery Bomb on a random reel, revealing a random paytable symbol. Once all wins are complete, each winning symbol & others in view, excluding the Mystery symbol, are removed.
- Coin: Awards a Coin symbol to a random reel position during the Free Spins mode.
- Coin Rain: Places 4-10 Coins on random reel positions during the Free Spins mode.
- Collector: Awards a Collector symbol to a random reel position during the Free Spins mode.

- Multiplier Boost: Moves the Multiplier Ladder 2 places to the right in the Free Spins mode.
- Mystery: Reveals 3-6 Mystery symbols on random reel positions in the base game. Mystery symbols reveal the same paytable symbol, only if there is at least 1 winning combination on the reels.
- Persistent Collector: Places a Persistent Collector on a random reel position, which remains active until the end of the Free Spins mode.
- Rainbow: Generates a Mystery Rainbow on a random reel position, transforming all identical instances into the same paytable symbol.
- Additional Wild: Awards 1-5 Wilds across the reel set.
Beast Gains: Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters across the reels in the base game guarantees entry into the Free Spins mode, where there are 3 Modes to choose from. Each Free Spins mode consists of 3 Progressive Levels: Standard, Enhanced 1, or Enhanced 2.
Additionally, once a Free Spins mode is selected, each player enters the Gamble Mode, where there is a 50/50 chance to upgrade the Progressive Level. Lastly, the Lucky Boost Feature may randomly trigger during a Free Spins session, with an increased chance of winning big.
- Standard (3 Scatters): Awards 6 Free Spins
- Enhanced 1 (4 Scatters): Awards 8 Free Spins
- Enhanced 2 (5 Scatters): Awards 10 Free Spins
Mystery Symbols
The Mystery Free Spins mode utilises the same mechanics found in the base game, but with several modifications. Each Modifier within the Feature Trail remains persistent throughout spins, and does not reset after each spin.
Depending on the outcome of the Gamble Mode, each player begins on 1 of 3 Levels. Once active, each session begins with a random number of Mystery symbols active, which drop to the lowest available position after each cascade (excluding reel 1).
Multiplier Ladder
Again, this mode maintains the same base game mechanics, but with several alterations. Once again, the available Modifiers within the Feature Trail become persistent throughout gameplay and do not reset between spins.
In this mode, a Global Multiplier of x1 is available, which increases to the next step for every cascade that occurs in the same spin or after each cascade, up to a maximum of x1,000. Additionally, Mystery symbols cannot be won on the reels or from the Feature Trail.
Coin Collection
During the Coin Collection mode, Coin & Collector symbols can appear on any reel. Once a Collector symbol hits, there is a chance for it to be upgraded into a Persistent Collector. When either Collector symbols or Explosive Chest is visible on the reels, all Coins in view are added to the Coin Stash.
However, if no Collector symbol is present, but 4 or more Coins are scattered across the reels, they are added to the Coin Stash. When a Collector symbol appears, it automatically awards all stored Coin values in the meter.
The Persistent Collector symbol will remain on the reels until the end of the Free Spins mode, but no further Collector symbols will land. Persistent Collector symbols work in the same way as regular Collectors, only they award an additional +2 Free Spins. Please note that Mystery symbols cannot be won on the reels or from the Feature Trail.
Enhanced Bets & Bonus Buy
Players may purchase any of the following Enhanced Bets & Bonus Buy options:
- Ante Bet: Adds 50% to your current bet, but guarantees an increased chance of triggering the Free Spins mode for 1.5x your bet
- Full Trail: For 5x your bet, each spin guarantees a Full Trail of features atop the Feature Trail
- Bonus Reels: Each session removes all paytable symbols, leaving only Scatters able to land, for 10x your bet
- Free Spins: Direct entry into the Free Spins mode, where you can choose between 3 Modes, for 85x your bet
Beast Gains has a maximum win capacity of 25,000x your bet. If a single session exceeds this, the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.
Our Honest Verdict
Beast Gains doesn’t try to reinvent the Beast series, and that’s exactly why it works. Rather than positioning itself as a direct successor, it feels more like a confident alternative that blends the strongest elements of Beast Mode and Net Gains, while introducing enough new ideas to avoid feeling like a retread.
The feature trail system adds a sense of progression, even if it only lasts between spins, helping the game stand apart and giving it something it can call its own.
The return to a 25,000x max win is a smart and welcome decision, bringing Beast Gains back in line with Beast Mode and restoring the high-ceiling potential that some players felt was missing when Net Gains lowered its cap to 15,000x.
This alone will be a major draw for fans of the series who value big-win potential, and it reinforces the idea that this is a more ambitious entry than it might first appear.
All in all, Beast Gains is a strong example of Relax Gaming at their creative best, refining proven mechanics rather than forcing change for the sake of it. It’s not too far removed from either of its predecessors, but it doesn’t need to be.
Players who have enjoyed the series so far will find Beast Gains to be an excellent alternative, one that strengthens the lineup rather than trying to replace what already works.
