Snakebite Slot Review 2021

Snakebite from Play’n GO brings another famous name to their portfolio with a darts game centered around the pro player, Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright!

Before becoming a professional Darts Player Peter Wright was a humble tyre fitter, and now he’s No. 2 on the order of merit and the World Matchplay Champion. Quite an impressive progression indeed, but is Snakebite an impressive slot?

Previous branded titles from Play’n GO have been a little hit or miss if we’re honest…Can Snakebite stand out?

Let’s step up to the oche and find out.

Snakebite Base Game

Snakebite Slot Theme

Snakebite is visually pleasing with a jubilant crowd eagerly awaiting to witness Peter Wright’s masterful technique.

There’s not much music to speak of, but there is a decent commentary going on as you spin the reels. You also get to witness Snakebite’s many different styles through symbols on the reels. You never quite know what colour Peter Wright is pulling out the bag next.

Overall, Snakebite definitely embodies the essence of darts, which is something every die hard darts fan will appreciate.

Snakebite Base Game and Features

Snakebite is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. To form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game alone isnt enough to get you off your seat but luckily for us Play’n GO has thrown in the Trophy Wild Feature to lend a helping hand!

Trophy Wild Scatter

During any spin in the base game, landing 3 or more Wild trophies will award you a cash prize. Trophy symbols pay in any position on the reels.

  • 3 Trophies – 2x your bet
  • 4 Trophies – 10x your bet
  • 5 Trophies – 200x your bet

Play’n GO has provided us with more than their fair share of Features in previous slot games and most of which have been a great success, sadly the Trophy Wild feature that is seen here doesnt particularly hit the ‘Bullseye’ and leaves us a little disappointed.

The Trophy Wild feature is the only thing that stops the base game from being simple and even then it doesnt exactly scream excitement but we would rather take it than leave it. Still if you’re lucky enough to land 5 trophies and claim the 200x, you’re not exactly going to turn your nose up at that!

Snakebite Free Spins

In order to win yourself 3 Snake Spins you will need to land 2 Dartboard symbols between reels 1, 2, 3 and 4 and the Special Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright symbol on the 5th reel. If you land the 2 Dartboards but no Special Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright symbol then you will automatically be awarded with an instant payout per Dartboard symbol.

Once Snake Spins are active, the reels will expand to 5×5. There are 4 individual prizes to be won during Snake Free Spins.

  • Instant Prizes – Awards a fixed payout anywhere between 1x, 2x, 5x or 10x your total bet.
  • Snake Snap – Duplicates all existing Instant Prizes and stores the accumulated prize on the snake snap symbol.
  • Peter Pays – Adds a fixed award to the instant prizes between 1x, 2x, 5x or 10x your total bet.
  • Golden Dart – Increases the Multiplier up to x10, once Snake Spins conclude the multiplier will be added to the total accumulated prizes for this feature.

Each time a prize lands in view they will remain in place and respins will be reset back to 3.  If no new prizes land in view or if every space is filled with a prize then Snake Spins will come to an end, awarding you with all the prizes you have accumulated.

Snakebite Our Verdict

There is not much in the way of competiton when it comes to the overall theme of Snakebite, if you’re a major Darts fanatic you will be thoroughly impressed by how well Play’n GO has pulled it off. The crowd pleasing visuals and commentary sound effects all stick out like a sore thumb, making you feel like you’re part of the crowd.

Play’n GO has never been one to disappoint, providing us with some of the more popular titles like Reactoonz, Book of Dead and The Green Knight, so it pains us to say that Snakebite feels like a step back in comparison.

The Snake Spins round is the overly-used ‘Hold & Win’ mechanic, if we are being honest we’ve seen this alot in previous games so there is nothing unique about it. Sadly, non exciting installments and Play’n GO’s branded titles seem to have a direct connection. If you look at Snakebite, ZZ top and Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness and compare them to original Play’n GO titles it’s evident to see just how much better the original ideas are.

It baffles us in a way why they choose to bottleneck their audience with branded titles. It seems like they’re catering to a very, very specific audience, and missing out on a lot more in the process.

Overall, if you’re a big darts fan then you might like Snakebite, but if you’re a slots enthusiast then the chances are you wont love it.
