When you think of the GOAT, what do you think about? Perhaps the acronym for the ‘Greatest of all time’ makes you think of footballers like Ronaldo, or Messi? or maybe you just think of an actual Goat…
The GOAT from Blueprint Gaming takes us to find out who really is the great of all time in an innovative slot with immense potential.
Blueprint Gaming has been relatively quiet in recent months. There’s been a few releases here and there, but there haven’t really been any big blockbuster titles apart from The Goonies Return. We all know Blueprint Gaming from their infamous Megaways offerings which still hold up today. Buffalo Rising, Safari Gold, Genie Jackpots Megaways and many others including branded titles like Rick and Morty Megaways.
It certainly feels like Blueprint had a golden era. Recent slots like Bankin’ Bacon had its merits, but none quite measure up to the slots of old which feels like their best work.
Fruity Slots loves Blueprint Gaming, but we’ll be honest and say that their appeal has dwindled a little bit with some of their recent work. However, The GOAT looks like it could be the one to pull it back?
Initial first impressions looks very promising. The GOAT looks unlike anything we’ve seen previously from the provider, so perhaps this change in direction might turn some heads.
The GOAT has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available here is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
The highest paying regular symbol in The GOAT falls to the Goat himself, this is followed by the Jet Plane, Sports Car and Gold Watch. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine.
Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except the Gold Goat and Scatter symbols.
The GOAT is a 6 reel slot with 4,096 Ways to win. In order to form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
Don’t let the layout of the reels confuse you, although The GOAT may look similar to the Megaways mechanic with the Sliding Reel above, the reels will only ever hold 4 symbols each and the sliding reel only presents Silver and Gold Multiplier Values.
The base game in The GOAT is far from boring, this is down to the thrilling GOAT symbol that can deliver unique Features. More on this below!
During any random spin in the base game, The GOAT Symbol can land in any position on reels 2, 3, 4 or 5.
Once The GOAT symbol has landed, it will award one of the following Modifiers.
The Multiplier on the Sliding Reel will automatically be added to all of the Modifiers in The GOAT symbol.
In order to trigger the Free Spins round, you will need to fill the Bonus Collection meter on the left side of the screen with 100+ Diamond Scatter symbols.
Once enough Diamond Scatters have been collected, you will be given a choice of 2 Free Spin rounds, each awarding 10 Free Spins.
During the X Wild Free Spins round, landing a Golden X Wild symbol, will expand to fill the entire reel.
The X Wild symbol will then be locked into position and will remain for the duration of Free Spins. All X Wild symbols that land, award an additional +1 Free Spin.
All Silver X Wilds that land, will expand but will not lock in their position. Only the Gold X Wild symbols can lock in their position on the reels.
During the X Wins Free Spins round, if the X Wins symbol lands in view, it will Multiply any winning combinations that are present.
Each X Wins Multiplier is then added to the total Multiplier Bank for the remainder of Free Spins.
Each time a Golden X Wins symbol lands, an additional +1 Free Spin is awarded.
During Free Spins, the Free Spins round can be retriggered by filling the Diamond Collection meter, which will award an additional +10 Free Spins.
Once you manage to fill the Diamond Collection meter halfway (50 Scatters), you will be given the option to Gamble them for a chance to win the Free Spins round.
If you choose to Gamble your Diamond Scatters, you will be forfeiting your Diamond Scatters collected so far.
By landing the cursor in the Gold section, will automatically fill your Diamond Collection meter to 100, triggering the Free Spins round. By landing the cursor in the Red section, you will lose all your collected Diamond Scatters and will be sent back to the base game.
Or you may choose not to take the Gamble, if this is the case you will be taken back to the base game and the Gamble feature will be offered again at the next threshold. The thresholds are 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 collected Diamond Scatters in the Collection meter.
For those outside the UK, you may benefit from the GOAT Bet option. There are two options available to players.
Don’t get us wrong, The G.O.A.T is a great game, but it’s not quite ‘The greatest of all time’. As we said, it feels like Blueprint Gaming are going through a little bit of a lull at the moment with few releases that succeed in impressing a picky audience, but The GOAT does feel like a bit of a turning point in the right direction.
Viking Fall from Blueprint was a recent game of theirs, but it didn’t deserve much recognition with strikingly obvious similarities to the Gold series of slots. On top of that, it was actually inferior to some of the slots in the series, which has evolved over time to offer new and exciting features. Where does Blueprint go from there? Do they regress to the safety net of the Megaways mechanic, or move forward with new ideas?
Thankfully, Blueprint gaming decided to move forward, and The GOAT was born. It’s not exactly innovation personified and it’s nowhere near perfect, but it’s good to see that spark of innovation from the Blueprint Gaming forge once more. The GOAT has enough action in the Base Game to keep you interested, and there’s plenty of excitement in the bonus to warrant excitement.
The graphics are great when compared to a few of their previous slots which looks dated in comparison, and slick goat character gives The GOAT and element of appeal as a figurehead for the madness that awaits.
In terms of potential, The GOAT has formidable potential…potentially. Blueprint are quite good at saying that their slots are capable of £250,000 (50,000x) as a maximum, but they’re not so good at telling us what the realistic maximum observed win is.
In summary, don’t go into The GOAT expecting 50,000x or you’ll just be disappointed, but you definitely shouldn’t understimate it either.
