The Troll’s Treasure Slot Review 2022

Get ready to live amongst the Troll’s and get your hands on some of their glorious treasure, in ReelPlay’s latest release, The Troll’s Treasure!

Arriving from the corners of the magical trolls’ realms, the four Elders of the troll clans gather inside the blessed Troll Cave. Some of the Trolls bought with them many treasure chests filled with unimagineable fortune. The Troll’s Treasure is inspired by the fairy tales of Scandinavian Folklore, bringing a story of exciting adventure and plenty of fun to your screen.

ReelPlay are the legends behind the Inifinity Reels titles, but even though The Troll’s Treasure doesn’t use this mechanic, ReelPlay has found a way to bring it to life in the Wheel feature. In addition to this, ReelPlay has delivered a seperate Free Spins round, which can also be purchased along with the Wheel feature in a generously priced Bonus Buy option for those outside the UK.

The Troll theme isn’t a common occurrence to be honest and so when these kind of slots pop up, we get a little excited to review them. ReelPlay has done a terrific job with the design and graphics of The Troll’s Treasure. The background is vibrant and gives off the impression that it is either a painting or a drawing, which is full to the brim with lucious green scenery.

ReelPlay may have outdone themselves with the theme, but will gameplay be just as good? Let’s play on and find out!

The Troll's Treasure Base Game

The Troll’s Treasure Betting and Symbols

The Troll’s Treasure has a selection of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available here is £/€0.50 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€250 a spin, with a handful of other options in between the two. The minimum bet seen here is a lot higher than most players feel comfortable playing on, so if you’re looking for a slot that offers a minimum bet lower than this, you may want to avoid The Troll’s Treasure.

The highest paying regular symbol in The Troll’s Treasure is the Treasure Chest, followed by the Warrior King Troll, the fearless Queen Troll, the Wise Troll and the Youthfull Troll. Low paying symbols fall to a selection of coloured Stones. The Purple stone has the highest pay value, followed by the Red, Green, Blue and Yellow stone symbols.

Wilds substitite for all symbols except Wheel and Scatter symbols.

The Troll’s Treasure Base Game and Features

The Troll’s Treasure is a 5 reel slot with 50 fixed paylines. In order to form a win, you will need to connect 3 or more of (or 2 or more of 2 highest paying symbols) from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The theme of The Troll’s Treasure is pretty magical, but does this follow over into the base game? ReelPlay has included a Wheel Feature that can be triggered not only in the base game but the Free Spins round too. The Wheel Feature certainly bring some much needed excitement to the base game whilst you’re waiting for Free Spins to land. More on this below.

Wheel Feature

Landing 3 Wheel symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4, triggers the Wheel Feature.

The wheel itself has 4 reels that are equipped with Cash Prizes and Arrows pointing left or right.

The Cash Prizes that can be awarded are as follows; x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x10, x20, x50 or 1,000x your current bet. Once the wheel is spun, the cash prize is awarded and the arrow will determine if you move forward to the next reel or move back to the previous reel.

The wheel feature will end when you recieve a left facing arrow whilst on the left-most reel.

The Troll’s Treasure Free Spins

Landing 3 Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 15 Free Spins. Additional Free Spins and the Wheel feature can be awarded during the Free Spins round.

During the Free Spins round, extra high-paying and Wild symbols are added to the reels, increasing your chance of hitting the maximum win capacity. Sadly there is no increasing Multiplier which would have made the Free Spins round a lot more appealing. Apart from an increase in high-paying symbols, what you see in the base game is pretty much what you get in the Free Spins round.

For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.

  • Wheel Feature – The Wheel feature can be purchased for a very 17x your current bet. The RTP when purchasing this option drops slightly from 96.74% to 96.70%.
  • Free Spins – The Free Spins round can be purchased for 31.2x your current bet. The RTP when purchasing this option drops dramatically from 96.74% to 96.61%.

The Troll’s Treasure: Our Verdict

The mesmerizing theme and graphics had set the bar high when it came to gameplay, but sadly its just not as good as we had hoped. There are a couple of things wrong with this slot, mainly the 1,000x maximum win capacity, the slightly boring Free Spins round and the minimum bet that doesn’t go any lower than £/€0.50 per spin.

Although the Wheel feature is not the most riveting of features we’ve seen, its definitely the best part of The Troll’s Treasure that’s for sure. It may seem like we are being hard on The Troll’s Treasure, but apart from the design, there really isn’t a whole lot of positive things to say about it.

The Bonus Buy options are nicely priced and won’t break the bank balance like many others we’ve seen, but again if you’re in the UK you won’t benefit from this. The Troll’s Treasure has a very appealing RTP of 96.74% but is instantly let down by the ugly maximum win capacity of 1,000x.

All in all, if you’re looking for a change of theme and a cheap and cheerful Bonus Buy option, then The Troll’s Treasure is the one. If you’re after big wins and suspensful gameplay, we suggets you go elsewhere.
