Tomb of Gold – Paylines and How to Get Them

Wins are created when 3-6 matching symbol types land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Win lines are formed across 4,096 active pay ways, in non-adjacent positions.

Tomb of Gold RTP, Volatility, & Max Win – Hot or Not?

Tomb of Gold has a theoretical RTP of 96.29% and a High Volatility rating (7/10). However, Play’n GO has also included 4 alternative RTP levels of 94.29%, 91.28%, 87.27%, and 84.26%. The RTP may vary depending on which Casino or Market you’re playing at.

The high volatility level means there is a potential for bigger wins but at the cost of hitting smaller wins more frequently. In addition, Tomb of Gold has a max win cap of 7,000x your bet.

Tomb of Gold Special Features

Tomb of Gold has a distinctive Hold & Win round known as the Lock’n Gold feature, activated via the base game. Six or more Gold Coins are needed to trigger this feature, however, if 4 or 5 Gold Coins land, the reels with no Gold Coins will respin for a second chance trigger.

During the Lock’n Gold feature, Gold Coin symbols will move up to unlock the top row, and the reels will be cleared of all symbols. The feature begins with 3 Respins that refill each time a new Gold Coin hits.

Gold Coin symbols will land facing the other way. At the end of the feature, all Gold Coins in view will flip over to reveal one of the following Multipliers; x1, x2, x3, x5, x10, x20, x30, or x100. The multipliers are added together, multiplied by your current bet, and awarded.

Tomb of Gold Bonus Rounds & Free Spins

Gaining entry to Free Spins requires 3 or more Sphinx Scatters to land in the base game. Alternatively, landing 4+ Sphinx Scatters will trigger Free Spins and award an Instant Prize of 5x, 10x, and 20x your bet for 4, 5, and 6 Scatters respectively.

Before the round begins, a special Wheel will appear to determine your starting number of Spins and Multiplier.

  • Spins – 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30.
  • Multiplier – x1, x2, x3, x4, or x5.

During this round, landing a Sphinx Scatter will increase your number of Spins by +1, while each Wild that lands increases the Multiplier by +x1. Please note that spins cannot exceed 65.

Conclusion

We thought Tomb of Gold would be your run-of-the-mill Book Style slot, but it’s similar to it in theme alone. We were expecting expanding symbols but were instead given multipliers, plus a Hold and Win bonus round named Lock’n Gold.

Hold and Win bonus rounds are undeniably popular, but don’t they seem a bit boring? There’s a vast array of reusable features in the world of slots and Hold and Win rounds aren’t in our top 5, unless of course, it does something spectacular like the Money Train series. Tomb of Gold makes no such effort to diversify its bonus game with enhancer features, though its potential can still make it exciting at times.

The Free Spins round is the main event, though it feels like the extra symbols needed for increasing the multiplier were much harder to get than extra spins, and what good are extra spins if the multiplier isn’t growing. Just a multiplier and spins also feels a little weak to us as far as Free Spins feature go.

Overall, Tomb of Gold can and will appeal, but it won’t stand out as a showstopper for Play’n GO.
