Wild Falls 2 continues on from an original that received a great reception when it released back in 2019, but is the river as laden with gold as it once was? or is it even more alluring?

Not even climate activists could argue with dumping foreign objects into natural rivers if the contents of said containers were packed full of dinero, and considering there’s a super river of gold, we’ll be paying little attention to the ecology of the river in our quest for all things shiny.

Will Wild Falls 2 live up to the trusty original? It certainly looks more refined at a glance, but it’ll need much more than improvements on the graphical front to stand out as a preferable option to its popular predecessor.

Wild Falls 2 Base Game and Features

Wild Falls 2 is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting option in between the two. Wild Falls 2 has a theoretical RTP of 96.20% and a max win cap of 15,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Wild Fall 2 is the Miner, followed by the Donkey, Pickaxe/Shovel and Latern. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Chest symbols act as Wilds and Scatters, landing only on reels 2, 3 and 4. Gold Chests open to reveal a Multiplier of x2, x3, x4 and x5.

Rapid Respins

Sat above reels 2, 3  and 4 is a collection of Chests waiting to drop onto the reels. If 1 or 2 Chest symbols land on the reels, the Rapid Respins feature is triggered.

During this time, all Chest symbols are held in position. If any additional Chests are to drop during this time, the reels will extend by 1, up to a maximum of 2 times. 

Rapid Respins will continue until no new Chests are added. Landing 3 Chests on the reels will trigger the River of Gold Free Spins round, and if 3 Gold Chests are present, the Super River of Gold Free Spins round is triggered.

Gold Rush

During any random spin in the base game, all Chests above the reels can transform into Gold Chests. Once this happens, the Gold Rush feature is triggered.

Each Gold Chest is equipped with a Multiplier of either x2, x3, x4 or x5. During Gold Rush, the Rapid Respins feature can be triggered using Gold Chests.

Wild Falls 2 Free Spins

Landing 3 regular Chests on reels 2, 3 and 4 automatically triggers the River of Gold Free Spins round.

Alternatively, landing 3 Gold Chests across reels 2, 3 and 4 will award the Super River of Gold Free Spins round. The number of Free Spins obtainable in both rounds is Unlimited.

River of Gold Free Spins

At the start of the round, all Chests will remain in their current positions and then move down one position on the reels at the end of every new Free Spin, until they fall off the bottom.

At any time, new Chests can be added to the reels from above. Gold Chests containing Multipliers can also appear during this time. The Multiplier values in Gold Chests do not increase during the River of Gold Free Spins round.

The round will end when there are no more regular or Gold Chests present on the reels, and no new ones have dropped down.

Super River of Gold Free Spins

The Super River of Gold Free Spins round can be triggered during Gold Rush.

This round works in a similar fashion to River of Gold Free Spins, except it is triggered only by Gold Chests. During this round, all Chests will remain Gold.

Each time a Gold Chest moves down one position on the reels, its current Multiplier value will increase by x1, up to a maximum of x9. This round will continue as long as Gold Chests are present on the reels.

Wild Falls 2: Our Verdict

When a slot provider releases a sequel, they’re always looking to improve on the original in a number of ways. In most cases they succeed, but there’s notable cases of providers not going far enough to make the sequel as big or as good as it should have been.

Thankfully, Play’n GO has done well in making Wild Falls 2 superior to the original in a number of ways. For one, they’ve increased the reel size which lengthens the time that chests remain on the reels before they fall off, and the bonus is longer as a result.

The biggest difference in Wild Falls 2 comes from its multiplier capabilities though. In Wild Falls 2, the Multipliers can combine for a maximum multiplier of up to 729x. This is significantly bigger than the multipliers in the original Wild Falls, and the maximum win is larger too. The maximum win here is 15,000x, which is very respectable.

Overall, Wild Falls 2 keeps what was great about the original, and it builds upon it for an even better experience.
