Wild Showdown Base Game and Features

Wild Showdown is a 5 reel slot with 1,024 ways to win. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€8 per spin, with a small variety in between the two.

In terms of symbols, the highest  paying regular symbol in Wild Showdown is the Sheriff, followed by the Lady, Cowboy and Drinks Bottle. Low paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine. There is also a Wild symbol present which substitutues for all symbols except Scatters and Gun Chamber symbols. Wild symbols will only appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Wild Showdown has a couple of interesting Gun Chamber features available in the base game that can deliver som pretty decent hits when they want to. The Gun Chamber symbols also play an important part in the Free Spins round. More on these below!

Multiplier Gun Chamber

Multiplier Gun Chambers are only available on reels 2 and will always act as a Wild.

Once a Multiplier Gun Chamber symbol is present on reel 2, it will stick itself out slightly from the reel and spin to reveal one of the it’s current Multiplier values. Each chamber will hold a Multiplier value of either x2 or x3. One chamber position will be Gold which always reveals a higher Multiplier value of either x4, x5, x6 or x10. The Gold chamber’s Multiplier value can change when the Multiplier is chosen.

Once the Multiplier Gun Chamber has spun, the chosen Multiplier value will then be applied to any winning combinations for that particular spin. Only 1 Multiplier Gun Chamber symbol can be awarded at any one time.

Wild Gun Chamber

The Wild Gun Chamber is only available on reel 4 and also acts as a Wild.

Once the Wild Gun Chamber symbol is in view, it will pop out from the reel slightly and spin to reveal one of its current Wild values. Each chamber will contain between 1 and 2 Wild values. One of the chambers is Gold and holds a higher Wild value of either 3, 4 or 5. The Gold chamber value can change when the number of Wilds is chosen.

Once a Wild value has been chosen at random, the number of Wilds awarded will be applied to the reels in random positions. One 1 Wild Gun Chamber symbol can land at any one time.

Wild Showdown Free Spins

Landing 1 Scatter on reel 3 automatically triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8 Free Spins.The Scatter symbol will remain on reel 3 and acts as a Wild symbol for the duration of Free Spins so long as there are no Gun Chamber symbols present.

If a Scatter symbol lands along with one or both Gun Chamber symbols, the Scatter symbol will disappear from the reel and will not return. The Scatter symbol will remain fixed on the reel and act as a Wild for the duration of Free Spins when any of the 3 Bonus Buy options are selected.

During the Free Spins round, if one or both Gun Chamber symbols are present on the reels, they will be locked into position for the entire duration. If at any point during Free Spins a Gun Chamber symbol lands in view, it will automatically lock into place. At the end of each Free Spin, the Gun Chamber symbol(s) will spin and apply either one of the Multiplier values and/or award so many Wilds.

Wild Showdown Bonus Buy

For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.

The Bonus Buy gives you direct access to the Free Spins round with locked Gun Chamber options, these are as follows.

• Scatter + Multiplier Gun Chamber – Choosing this option will cost 97.70x your current bet.
• Scatter + Wild Gun Chamber – Choosing this option will cost 90.50x your current bet.
• Scatter + Multiplier and Wild Gun Chambers – Choosing this option will cost 456.50x your current bet.

The RTP when purchasing one of the above Bonus Buy options varies between 93.88% and 93.98%.

Wild Showdown: Our Verdict

Wild Showdown serves as another to prove just how popular the Wild West genre still is.

It’s hard to stand out thematically here because of how many Wild West slots there are, but has Wild Showdown done enough? or is it just a drop in the ocean of gunslinger slots out there? We’ve reviewed our fair share of Wild West Games, and we’re please to say that we quite liked Wild Showdown. The multiplier and Wild Gun Chamber features really opens up the game to bigger wins, and we’re thankful to see that it uses 4,096 ways instead of traditional pay lines (we’re not sure it would have worked with pay lines)

In an exciting turn for bonus buy players, there also seems to be a super buy option here too. A bonus buy for 456.50x is no small amount, but the bonus can certainly perform when the bullets start flying.

However, there’s a strange difference between landing Free Spins naturally and buying free spins. In Free Spins, The Scatter symbol will remain fixed on the reel and act as a Wild for the duration of Free Spins when any of the bonus buys are used instead, so Wild Showdown might not be as attractive to UK players as it will be to players within Bonus Buy jurisdictions.

In terms of maximum potential, Wild Showdown looks quite competent with wins of up to 12,500x possible.

Overall, it’s safe to say that alcohol, saloons, proud but stubborn Americans and guns were a recipe for disaster on many an occasion back in the Wild West, but for us in this instance it’s a recipe for something rather good.
