If you’re someone who has played slot games for a long time, you will know there are many recogniseable elements of a slot game.
Some slots have amazing intros, others have fantastic sounds and music, and some are character-driven.
Yes, even though slot games are short, they still feature characters that play a prominent role in the slot. Whether on the reels as a symbol or as the main focus of the game, characters are important.
In slots, characters help to build the story, which is why there are so many long-lasting slot series. Players come to love the characters and want more of them in a new setting.
While there are so many recogniseable characters in slot games, there are some that are forgotten, that you need reminding of.
Agent Jane Blonde – Microgaming

Agent Jane Blonde
Agent Jane Blonde is the definition of a girl boss. Jane Blonde is a fabulous blonde spy and is modeled as a pretty and savvy female spy.
This spy-themed slot is one of the goodies, but oldies. Microgaming first introduced the blonde beauty to the reels in 2005, and she has gone on to have her own game series.
In slots, she is an example of a strong female character, but she is often overlooked due to the numerous other slots available. Still, Agent Jane has a few slot games under her belt, but her character is not widely remembered among spy slots.
However, we remember her as the iconic secret agent with stylish outfits on the reels.
Gonzo – Gonzo’s Quest – NetEnt

Gonzo’s Quest
Gonzo from Gonzo’s Quest has to be one of the most legendary characters on the reels, but until recently, with the sequel to the game, he has been forgotten.
The slot was released in 2011 by NetEnt and features Gonzo, a Spanish explorer who is searching for the lost treasure of El Dorado.
Long-time slot fans remember Gonzo, but with the emergence of newer and flashier adventure games, unfortunately, old Gonzo fell to the wayside.
However, for nostalgia’s sake, we should acknowledge Gonzo as one of the original adventurers.
Love and Storm- Moon Princess – Play’n Go

Moon Princess
Moon Princess is a slot series that has many games, but in the recent game, Moon Princess Stargazing, two of the ladies, Love and Storm, are gone.
There isn’t much explanation as to why. We mentioned this in our review, and in this new game, they introduce celestial girlies Astra and Nova.
But why remove the original characters from Moon Princess for the purpose of turning to the stars? Fans came to know the franchise with Love, Storm, and Star. Bring the girls back!
Rich Wilde – Book Of Dead – Play’n Go

Book Of Dead
Rich Wilde first came onto the Play’n Go scene in Rich Wilde and the Aztec Idols. He was the provider’s answer to Indiana Jones, as he was an explorer who starred in many of their games as a dashing adventurer on a different quest.
Rich Wilde was the star of his own franchise and became one of Play’n Go’s most familiar characters. However, with many new adventure-themed slots coming on the scene, he eventually faded into the background.
This was confirmed when, in 2020, Cat Wilde and the Doom of Dead was released, as Rich’s daughter took over the franchise. While we do love the new direction, it is a shame he is no longer the adventurer on the game cover.
Rainbow Ryan – Yggdrasil Gaming

Lucky Apocalypse
Rainbow Ryan was first introduced in 2017 in Yggdrasil’s Rainbow Ryan.
Since then, the lucky leprechaun had a few games where he was the star, but that changed in the 2025 title, Lucky Apocalypse.
You may see him on the cover, but he faded into the background. Yggdrasil has become more focused on features and gameplay rather than mascot marketing in the last few years, so Rainbow Ryan faded from memory.
However, while he was featured in Lucky Apocalypse, his character visuals changed. He looks nothing like he did before. In fact, he looks menacing and not like the happy-go-lucky guy we once knew from Rainbow Ryan.
