Looking into the theme, the background looks a little dull and dreary (much like British weather) at first, but this soon brightens up once the Sunflower wakes. On the right you can see the animals asleep in their barn, and an adorable little Sunflower on the left. Keep an eye on this cheeky chap as he plays an important part in the base game!

Animal Madness Base Game and Features

Animal Madness is a 5×5 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 4 or more of the same symbol types either Horizontally or Vertically. Once a winning combination is formed, all winning symbols will be removed from the grid and new symbols will fall down via a Cascade, filling all empty positions and possibly creating more winning combinations.

The minimum bet available in Animal Madness is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with a selection of bets in bwteen the two.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Animal Madness is the Cow, followed by the Sheep, Goat and Chicken. Low paying symbols fall to Pumpkins, Tomatoes, Corn and Wheat. Sunflower Power

Sleeping soundly on the left side of the grid is a baby Sunflower. Each time a winning combination is formed, the Sunflower will devour it and 1 Petal will light up. Once a quarter of the Sunflower’s petals are lit, one of the following Modifiers is activated.

• 3 Cascades – Awards 3 1×2 Chicken Wilds to the grid in random positions.
• 6 Cascades – Awards 1 2×3 Goat Wild to the grid in a random position.
• 9 Cascades – Awards 2 2×2 Sheep Wilds to the grid in random positions and all symbols will have their payouts doubled.
• 12 Cascades – Awards 1 3×3 Cow Wild to the grid in a random position.

During any non-winning spin, 1 of 3 Rabbit Destruction features can randomly trigger. The first Rabbit feature will remove 3 rows of symbols from the grid, the second Rabbit feature will remove 3 columns of symbols from the grid, and the third and final Rabbit feature will remove all Vegetable symbols in view.

Animal Madness: Our Verdict

If there is one thing we can say about Play’n GO, it’s that they really know how to pull off a Cluster Pays slot, but can the same be said about the Farm theme? Play’n GO aren’t the first provider to try their hand at farming and they certainly won’t be the last, with Hacksaw Gaming leading the way with Harvest Wilds.

Play’n GO are the masterminds behind Lordi and Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness, which both use a similar charge meter to the Sunflower seen here, the only difference being you count in petals rather than numbers, but the outcome is always the same.

Like the Sunflower, we couldn’t help but drift off to sleep at times in the base game. The base game is quite a slow burner, so if you’re looking for a slot that’s full on from the get go, you might want to give Animal Madness a miss. Without a Free Spins round to fall back on, Animal Madness relies solely on the Sunflower Power feature to deliver entertainment.

Animal Madness may have a pretty design, but the same can’t be said about the statistics unfortunately, with an average RTP of 96.20% and a disappointing maximum win capacity of 2,250x. The maximum win capacity may be poor, but this seems about right for a slot that is Medium Volatility.

Overall, compared to Play’n GO’s extensive catalogue of exciting Cluster Pays titles, Animal Madness feels a little bit diluted in comparison.
