Anna the Explorer is back and this time she’s taking on some rather fiendish undead Pharaohs in Book of Duat by Quickspin!
Anna is gearing herself up for yet another hair-raising quest, this time making a return to Ancient Egypt in search of a worthy relic. Once Anna lets herself inside the Tomb where the relic is rumored to be, the shimmering of Gold soon becomes matched by the glowing of the undead Pharoahs eyes..Nervous but determined, Anne is sure that all of her hard work willpay off once she has her hands on the Book of Duat!
In order to claim the prize for herself, Anna must first make her way past Anubis the God of Death and slip through Sobek the God of Crocodiles grip, sounds easy right?
Quickspin has combined one of their more popular characters with a fresh take on the old-style Book games, making Book of Duat a thrilling masterpiece for players to enjoy. Book of Duat includes an epic Free Spins round with a Pick and Click feature and Expanding symbols.
With Anna on your side, you shouldn’t have any problems hitting a big win!
The theme and design for Book of Duat impresses in some ways, but not in others. One one hand, the Egyptian explorer theme is one we’ve seen time and time again, but on the other, the graphical quality of Book of Duat is great.
It definitely feels like a fresh take on a style we’ve seen many times before, but it’s not exactly a breathtaking.
These days, anything with an Egyptian Theme needs to try pretty hard to impress. In fact, it could well be the most oversaturated theme behind the classic Fruity theme.
Book of Duat has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £0.20 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £100 per spin, with plenty of options sat between the two.
The highest paying regular symbol in Book of Duat falls to Anna, followed by the Pharoah, Anubis and Sobek. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.
Wild symbols (which are also Scatters) substitute for all symbols.
Book of Duat is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. To form a win you will need to connect 3 or more (or 2 or more of the higher paying symbols) from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
This is bog-standard Book style at work here. We all know it, and we all love it. Full lines of the higher paying symbols pay amazing, but there’s no features to speak of that’ll tide you over until Free Spins arrives. When it does arrive, you’re in for a bit of a surprise with an approach to the classic Book style gameplay that we’re not accustomed to.
Landing 3 or more Wild Scatters on any of the reels will trigger the bonus round and award you 4 Free Spins.
Before Free Spins can start you will be met by a Pick and Click feature, 3, 6 or 12 picks are awared respectively for 3, 4 or 5 Wild Scatters that land in the base game. 1 Expanding symbol and a Multiplier of x1 are also awarded.
Each pick randomly chooses an award from the list below.
During Free Spins if 3 or more Wild Scatters land in view, you will be awarded an additional 2 Free Spins. 1, 2 or 4 picks are awarded respectively for 3, 4 or 5 Wild Scatters landed.
If the symbol that is awarded to you is a lower-paying symbol, you will need to land 3 or more in order for them to expand. If your chosen symbol is a higher-paying symbol, only 2 or more symbols are required for expansion.
For those outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.
You will have the choice of 3 Feature Buys:
It”s seemingly impossible to come across a Book slot with an original idea. For the most part, providers who make slots like this ride the coattails of the successful hits that came before it, and in a way, Book of Duat does too.
The theme isn’t original in the slightest, so no brownie points for Quickspin in that regard. However, they’ve done something pretty special with the bonus. The Pick and Click feature really does breathe new life into something that would have otherwise been generic at best, and those outside of the UK can rejoice even more because of a 3-tier bonus buy option.
The Pick and Click feature is definitely clever, but it’s not as exciting as the likes of Secrets of the Stone where you can get full Wild Reels and Wild Symbols, but it does have multipliers which is where it stands out from other Book Slots. Full screens of the highest paying symbol pay the same as any other Book slot, but when you throw multipliers into the works it quickly becomes a slot that far outclasses those before it with 32,760x capabilities.
Overall, if anyone was going to be inventive with the Book of function then it was definitely going to be Quickspin. It doesn’t take much away from the classics, and it definitely doesn’t add much in terms of theme, but it does offer up considerably more than almost every other Book Slot around.
