Aurum Signature Studios joins the fray of Christmas releases with their newest festive release, Book of Mrs Claus!

We’re pretty sure that we know what to expect with Book of Mrs Claus. Not many try to ‘reinvent the wheel’ with a new take on the genre, but every now and then a provider will come along to spice things up with a mechanic thrown in to make it feel fresh.

Book of Mrs Claus does have an extra something with its Hyperspins feature, which we’ve seen before in games like Book of Oz, but this isn’t available to UK players unfortunately. Aurum Studios has pulled off the ultimate Christmas theme, with the background displaying a traditional Christmas setting. The background puts us outdoors overlooking a house that’s glistening with Christmas lights, surrounded by sparkling trees, snowy mountains and a blanket of snow laying thick across the ground. Although the background displays a cold scene, you can’t help but feel warm and cozy just looking at it.

The music playing throughout is festive yet relaxing and the sound effects work nicely with the Christmas theme, with neither the music or sound effects overpowering the other.

All in all, Book of Mrs Claus certainly looks the part but how well does it play? Grab yourself an eggnog and let’s find out!

Book of Mrs Claus Betting and Symbols

Book of Mrs Claus has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€25 per spin, with plenty of options in between the two. The bet amount can be altered by coin size and coins.

The highest paying regular symbol in Book of Mrs Claus is Mrs Claus, followed by the Reindeer, the Fox and the Owl. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Scatter symbols also act as Wilds and substitute for all symbols.

Book of Mrs Claus is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. To form a win you will need to connect 3 or more (or 2 or more of the highest paying symbols) from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

Book of Mrs Claus features the exciting Hyper Spins Feature which we’ve seen before in games like Legacy of Oz and Playboy Fortunes, but sadly this feature isn’t available for UK players.

The Hyper Spins Feature allows players to re-roll individual reels for a set cost, which varies depending on the configuration of other reels. Respinning an individual reel with 2 Scatter symbols elsewhere will cost a pretty penny to say the least, but it does dramatically increase your chance at a Bonus.

It’s sad that this feature isn’t available for UK players, but we can understand why it isn’t.

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters on any of the reels, awards 10, 12 and 25 Free Spins respectively.

In typcial ‘Book’ tradition, once Free Spins are activated, a symbol will be chosen at random to be your special Expanding symbol.

During Free Spins, when a certain amount of special symbols land in view, they will expand to fill the entire reel.

If a Higher paying symbol is chosen as your Expanding symbol, you will need to land a minimum of 2 of that symbol for expansion to occur. If a Lower paying symbol is chosen, you will need to land a minimum of 3 of that symbol in order for expansion to occur.

Book of Mrs Claus Our Verdict

We’ve seen many a ‘Book’ style slot game, but what makes Book of Mrs Claus stand out from the rest? Other than the festive theme, Book of Mrs Claus works in the same way other Book games do. Aurum Studios could have shaked things up a bit with a fresh twist on the traditional ‘Book’ mechanic, but we are far from disappointed with the outcome.

Book games are becoming more and more popular with providers, with Book of Destiny, Book of Fallen and Book of Toro being just some of the newest book releases. The big difference between these titles and Book of Mrs Claus is the theme, Aurum Studios has gone against traditional Egyptian book themes and gone full on festive instead. Book of Mrs Claus features HyperSpins, which is great for those who have access to it, but for those in the UK, we don’t benefit from this feature.

Statistically, Book of Mrs Claus has an above average RTP of 96.50% and a less than impressive maximum win capacity of 5,000x. The maximum win capacity may not be the worst we’ve come across but it’s not the best we’ve seen either. Let’s hope the festive theme and ‘book’ mechanic is enough to entice you.
