Base Game & Features
Brainwashed is a highly volatile 5-reel, 4-row Video Slot with 30 fixed pay lines and a selection of bet sizes between £.€010 and £.€50 per spin. Other attributes include an overall RTP of 96.28% and a sizable max win potential of 20,000x your bet.
The game’s 8 paytable symbols consist of 4 High-paying (character) symbols and 4 low-paying symbols, including Knives, Cups, Pills, and a Badge. Wins occur when 3-5 identical symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Wilds substitute for all paytable symbols, awarding payouts between 2.5x and 20x your bet.
Random Features
In the base game, 1 of 3 Features can be randomly accessed – these include:
- Helter Skelter: Transforms a number of reel positions into Wild symbols.
- Cyan-Aid: Transforms any Brain symbols in view into Wild symbols.
- Space Heads: Transforms all high-paying (character) symbols into the highest-paying character symbol.
All of the above features are triggered when their respective icons appear on the TV screen to the right of the main reel set.
Brain Stacks
Each spin in the base game can conjure special Brain symbols in stacks of varying heights. Each Brain symbol carries a random Prize Multiplier between 1x and 666x your bet. In Free Spins, a Golden Brain symbol may appear within a stack. Golden Brains can only be collected once and double the win value at the end of the spin.
Brain Collectors
During any base game spin, 1 or more Brain Collectors can appear on the reels, of which there are 3 types:
- Green Collector: Collects the value of all Brain symbols that land on top of them.
- Blue Collector: Collects the value of Brain symbols that land on top of them, plus all Brain symbols above it on the same reel.
- Red Collector: Collect and multiply the value of all Brain symbols that appear on top and above them on the same reel, increasing their Multiplier by +x1 per each collected Brain symbol.
Bonus Buy
- Bonus Boost: Increases your chances of triggering Free Spins (1.5x your bet)
- Big Bonus Boost: Significantly increases your chances of triggering Free Spins (5x your bet)

Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatter symbols anywhere in the base game triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 6 Free Spins. The triggering Scatter positions will transform into random Brain Collectors.
In Free Spins, additional Brain Collectors can be randomly spawned onto positions. All Brain Collector Multipliers persist throughout the entire feature. Landing an ‘Extra Days’ symbol awards a further +1 Free Spin. The total win of all Brain Collectors is displayed on the TV Screen and is paid out at the end of the feature.
Our Verdict
It’s a big leap of faith for new slots developers when they emerge into the iGaming industry, working against the abundance of experienced providers that have won the hearts of many players throughout the years. Devil’s Finger impressed us with its mechanical ingenuity and cutting-edge features that we don’t often see from a new provider until much later.
The features and mechanics Shady Lady conjures up are something we’d expect to see from ELK Studios or Nolimit City, which makes them a rising star in the iGaming community, and certainly one to watch from here on out. Brainwashed is a compelling second release with a much darker aesthetic than its predecessor, comprised of anticipating features and mechanics.
The base game is layered with Random Features, Brain Stacks, and special Collectors that are equally engaging from start to finish, coupled with a high-paced Free Spins mode with additional enhancements. Brainwashed has all the characteristics you tend to look for in a new release, it’s entertaining, unique, and very impressive for a second release. If this is the standard Shady Lady has set for themselves, we’re eager to see what they bring to the table next.
