Canine Carnage Base Game and Features

Canine Carnage is a 5 reel slot with up to 248,832 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Canine Carnage is the Dog with the Red background, followed by the Dogs with Purple, Blue and Green backgrounds. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

There is also a Wild symbol present which substitutes for all other symbols except Scatters, Gold Bones, Collector and Multiplier symbols. Wilds are also known as Splitter Wilds as they have the ability to split all symbols to the right of it into two on the same row, including High and Low-paying symbols, Gold Bones and other Wilds.

Multiplier, Scatter and Collector symbols cannot be split into two. During the base game, between 1 and 3 Splitter Wilds can be added randomly to the reel set.

Multipliers

During any random base game spin, Multiplier symbols of x2, x3 or x5 can land on across the reels, or they can be added to the reels at random.

If a winning combination is formed whilst a Multiplier value is present on the reels, all wins will be automatically multiplied by the current Multiplier. When more than 1 Multiplier symbol lands, their values are added together and then applied to any winning combinations that are present for that spin.

Gold Bones Instant Prizes

During gameplay, you will comes across Gold Bones with a random Cash value of up to 5x your current bet attached to them.

Randomly, between 3 and 6 Gold Bones can be added to the reels in any position. If Gold Bones are present at the same time as a Collector symbol, all Cash values on the Gold Bones will be awarded.

Canine Carnage Free Spins

Landing 3 Fuel Can Scatters across reels 1, 3 and 5 triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 6 Bone Spins.

During Free Spins, all High and Low-paying symbols are removed from play and only Gold Bone and Collector symbols can land across the reels.

When Gold Bones land, their cash value is awarded instantly and their amounts are also added to a Cash Pot in the form of a dog bowl. Whenever a Collector symbol lands in view, the total amount accumulated in the Cash Pot is awarded.

In addition to this, 1 of 3 Features can be randomly activated on every Bone Spin.

• Between 3 and 6 Gold Bone symbols can be randomly added to the reels.
• Multipliers of x2, x3 and x5 can be randomly added to the reels. Multipliers will only be applied to the total Cash Pot amount, they accumulate throughout Bone Spins and do not reset.
• Bteween 1 and 3 Splitter Wilds can be randomly added to the reels. Splitter Wilds are able to split all Gold Bones on the same row to the right, doubling their Cash values.

Canine Carnage: Our Verdict

Play’n GO really hit the nail on the head here, with pristine graphics and fantastic animations throughout. Looks aside, Canine Carnage shares similar traits to that of The Last Sundown by making use of the Splitting symbols mechanic and a similar storyline about an Apocalypse.

The base game in Canine Carnage isn’t always the most fulfilling and can definitely have the odd dry spell like most games, but once the Multipliers, Splitter Wilds and Gold Bone Instant Prize features kick in, your mood is lifted and your opinion soon changes.

The Free Spins round is where the action is as you would expect, and Play’n GO has made the Features the main attraction by removing all High and Low-paying symbols from the equation. If you’re a big fan of animations, the top dog known as Mutt looms over the reel set waiting to take a bite out of the Cash Pot bowl next to him.

During testing, it took a while to land the Free Spins round but when we did we were not disappointed, and each of our 3 Bonus rounds managed to pay a fairly decent amount thanks to the Win Multiplier which does not reset between spins. What’s great about this round is that there’s always something going on and this is down to the 3 Features that can trigger on any of the Bone Spins.

In terms of potential, Canine Carnage has a slightly lower maximum win capacity than we had hoped for, but given that is has a Medium Volatility, this is to be expected. Still, 3,000x is a nice enough figure if you’re playing on higher stakes.
