Count Jokula Slot Review 2022

Play’n GO is expanding their beloved Joker series with their most hair-raising one yet, in Count Jokula!

With Halloween fast approaching, a rather cheeky and slightly comical Count Jokula opens the doors to his Castle for anyone who may stumble across them, but will you be brave enough to enter?

Prepare to be scared as a new Joker joins the gang, and it’s safe to say he’s the spookiest of the bunch. Count Jokula continues the classic fruit machine look and introduces 2 thrilling features into gameplay that will appeal to a range of players.

Keep a close eye on the Joker Wild as he shapeshifts Bat symbols across the reels into other winning symbols, and face the Respins of Evil round where a Multiplier of up to x20 and a maximum of 25 Respins can be awarded! Although it’s not a Christmas slot, Count Jokula is the gift that keeps on giving!

Will Count Jokula leave a lasting impression like Fire Joker, Fire Joker Freeze and Free Reelin’ Joker did? Let’s play on and find out!

Count Jokula Base Game

Count Jokula Base Game and Features

Count Jokula is a 3 reel slot with 5 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 of the same symbol types land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.05 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Count Jokula has a theoretical RTP of 96.22% and a maximum win capacity of 8,350x.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Count Jokula is the Bat, followed by the Sword and Chalice. Low paying symbols fall to Plums, Grapes, Lemons and Cherries. There is also a Joker Wild symbol present which substitutes for all High and Low-paying symbols.

Although Count Jokula has only 3 reels, Play’n GO has still managed to include a Shapeshifter feature during the base game. More on this below.

Shapeshifter Feature

During any non-winning spin in the base game, if the Bat symbol lands on any of the reels, it can randomly transform into a Joker Wild symbol and form a winning combination.

Count Jokula: Respins of Evil

During the base game, if a winning combination is formed with the Joker Wild on the middle reel, the Respins of Evil round will trigger.

Once active, a Multiplier meter above the reel set will come into play, up to a maximum of x20. The Wild Joker symbol on the middle reel will also become sticky and will remain in its position for the duration of Respins.

During Respins of Evil, if a winning combination is formed with the Wild Joker, another Respin is awarded and the Multiplier will increase to the next available on the meter. Any additional Wild Joker symbols that may land on the middle reel during this time, will become sticky and remain in their position for the duration of respins, even if they do not contribute to a winning combination.

Each win that lands is multiplied by the current unlocked Multiplier value. If you reach the maximum multiplier value of x20, the multiplier will no longer increase but will be applied to all future wins during this round. The maximum number of respins available is 25 and if you reach this number, the Respins of Evil round will end automatically.

Count Jokula: Our Verdict

Given how close it is to Halloween, it makes sense that providers are choosing spooky themes for their new releases right now, and Play’n GO has chosen to make the most of this upcoming holiday by using this as the theme for their latest Joker slot in the series.

Count Jokula is well designed and well presented, but is it a good choice when there’s more in terms of potential and features elsewhere?

Count Jokula at its core is a simple game, like many of the joker series slots are, yet Count Jokula is surprisingly capable with up to 8,350x as a maximum win cap.

To see it happen you’d presumably need huge multipliers and Jokers eveywhere, and probably more than once. It’s unlikely that many ill see Count Jokula at its best, but don’t underestimate it despite its humble 3-reel configuration.

Overall, Count Jokula is a fun little slot to celebrate the Halloween season with, and it wouldn’t be a bad choice for players who prefer simplicity either, no matter what time of year it is.
