Catching Crabs has never been more exciting, metaphorically speaking. Crabbin’ Crazy 2 is certainly immersive, but if you’re itching in the nether region reading this review then a trip to the doctors is certainly on the cards.

The original Crabbin’ Crazy was released at a time when every iSoftBet title featured the Hold & Win mechanic, which took the shine off it in some ways and was seen by many as ‘just another Hold & Win slot’.

Since then, iSoftBet has come up with a number of refreshing releases, drawing their attention to their much loved Twisted Tale series. With a much-appreciated break from all things Hold & Win, now is the perfect time to release Crabbin’ Crazy 2, where it will get the admiration it certainly deserves.

Credit where credits due, iSoftBet has done a fantastic job with the design and graphics here. The first morning light shines beautifully across the background ready for a hard days crabbing, complimented by a jolly instrumental tune playing throughout.

Crabbin’ Crazy 2 Base Game and Features

Crabbin’ Crazy 2 is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 (£/€0.25 Crabbin’ Licence Bet) per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€200 (£/€250 Crabbin’ Licence Bet) per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretcial RTP of 95.93% and a max win cap of 2,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol here is the Boat, followed by Crab Claws, the Fishing Net and Bait. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen and Jack. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Crab symbols.

Crabbin’ Licence Bet

Before you can begin spinning, you will be given the option to activate the Crabbin’ Licence Bet on the left side of the reel set.

Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 25%, but with that comes certain advantages. Once active, your chances of triggering the features are increased and 4 Respins will be awarded rather than 3 in the Bonus round.

Taxi Crab

During any losing spin in the base game, a Taxi Crab can randomly appear, transforming the losing spin to a Bonus trigger or Big Win.

Pick a Bucket!

Another thing to look forward to in the base game is the Pick a Bucket! feature, which is triggered when the Fisherman appears in view.

Once active, you will be given 3 Buckets to choose from, revealing 1 of 5 unique Modifiers as follows.

• Mystery Crate – Wooden Crates will land across the reels, transforming into the same High or Low-paying symbol from the paytable, potentially forming a winning combination.
• Synced Reels – 2 or more reels will link together, landing the same symbols.
• Catch of the Day – A random winning combination will be created with a winnign streak. Additional symbols which make or improve on a win will be held and the reels will Respin.
• Colossal Cash – A 3×3 colossal symbol is added to the reels. The colossal symbol can be any other symbol, except Crabs.
• Crazy Crabbin’ – A special Fisherman Collector symbol will appear on Reel 1 and any Crabs that land during this time will be paid. Super Crab and Uni Crab are not available during this modifier.

Crabbin’ Crazy 2: Crabbin’ Bonanza Respins

Landing 5 or more Crab symbols across the reels triggers the Crabbin’ Bonanza Respins round, awarding 3 Respins. If the Crabbin’ Licence Bet is active at the time of the Bonus trigger, you will be awarded 4 Respins.

Each Crab symbol has their own Prize Values which are located on the Display Board to the left side of the reel set. If the Fisherman symbol appears, all Crabs and their values currently on the reels will be collected, opening up more space for new Crab symbols to land.

During Respins, landing a new Crab symbol will reset the number of Respins back to 3 (or 4) and remain in its fixed position for the duration of the bonus round.

Also in play during this time is a special Crab symbol known as the Super Crab. Super Crab symbols will Double all prizes in view, including the Fisherman, revealing a prize value of x10, x25 or x50 your current bet.

When the Respins round ends, all Crabs will reveal their values and collected.

Crabbin’ Crazy 2: Our Verdict

Fishing enthusiasts might turn their nose up at the humble art of crabbing, but in this case we dare say it’s superior.

Crabbin’ Crazy 2 is a humourous take on an otherwise mundane activity with comedic relief that is certainly appreciated, and the difference in quality from the original game is quite noticeable. The Pick A Bucket Feature seems to trigger fairly frequently, and within the bucket lies interesting features to keep the experience absorbing and enjoyable. Each of the videos are rather capable, but the Crabbin’ Bonanza Respins is the main event, and when you trigger it you can’t help but feel like you’re in for a good time.

Of course, not every bonus can go well, but in our experience the Crabbin’ Bonanza Respins churned out some favourable results often enough to leave a good impression.

In terms of potential, Crabbin’ Crazy 2 isn’t up there with the greats at 2,000x the bet as a maximum win. It beats the original game, but in a day and age where everything seems volatile to the max, it may put some off.

Overall, Crabbin’ Crazy 2 didn’t disappoint with diverse gameplay and a humourous twist, but it doesn’t quite stand out as iSoftBet’s finest work.
