It’s time for a throwback with a sequal to one of Quickspin‘s most popular slots with Eastern Emeralds Megaways!

Eastern Emeralds proved popular because of its different bonus options, and now Quickspin has upped the potential with a new Megaways variant. This won’t be the first time Quickspin has jazzed up a game with Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic, having done it already with the likes of Big Bad Wolf Megaways.

Eastern Emeralds Megaways Base Game and Features

Eastern Emeralds Megaways is a 5 reel slot with up to 16,807 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The minimum bet available to players is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other betting options in between the two. Eastern Emeralds Megaways has a theoretical RTP of 96.04% and a maximum win capacity of 17,421x.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Eastern Emeralds Megaways is the Lion, followed by the Fish, Turtle and Fortune Cookie. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, king, Queen, Jack and Ten. 

There is also a Wild symbol present on reels 2-5 which substitutes for all other symbols except Scatters. Wilds will always appear with a Multiplier value of either x2, x3, x4 or x5. Landing 3 or more Scatters in any position across the reels, automatically triggers the Free Spins round. 

Before the Free Spins round can begin, you will be met with a Picker screen with 4 feature options available. These options vary depending on how many triggering Scatters are awarded.

• Option 1 – Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters gives you the option of 6, 12 or 24 Free Spins respectively with x5, x6, x7 and x8 Multiplier Wilds in play.
• Option 2 – Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters gives you the option of 9, 18 or 36 Free Spins respectively with x4, x5, x6 and x7 Multiplier Wilds in play.

• Option 4 – Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters gives you the option of 15, 30 or 60 Free Spins respectively with x2, x3, x4 and x5 Multiplier Wilds in play.

Regardless of the option you choose, Wild Multipliers work in the same way as they do in the base game and only appear on reels 2-5.

Gamble Feature

Once you have chosen one of the above options, you will be given the chance to Double your total Free Spins through the Gamble feature, unless Free Spins has been triggered with 5 Scatters.

Choosing to Gamble takes you to a Wheel where 2 Golden Fish are present. One of the gold fish has 0 Free Spins and the other has Double your current Free Spins amount. 

Both fish will then hide their numbers and spin. Once they stop, you will then be able to choose one of the Gold Fish, revealing either the Doubled Free Spins or none at all.

Eastern Emeralds Megaways was always going to be fairly predictable, but that doesn’t detriment its appeal.

More ways means more action, and more action means bigger and better wins. Some could argue that Quickspin could have reinvented Eastern Emeralds with a shiny new sequel of their own making, and they could of, but the Megaways mechanic just works so well. The infamy of it is still as alive today as it was a year ago, and Eastern Emeralds is a prime beneficiary to the Megaways makeover.

The Gamble Feature adds an extra layer of excitement…or terror depending on your experience with Gamble Features…Nonetheless, the potential here is evident and exciting with potential surpasses the original.

That said, you’d think that Eastern Emeralds Megaways should far surpass its precessor given the improved ways, but Eastern Emeralds Megaways isn’t much more capable than the original with up to 17,421x as a maximum win. We’d have liked to see this higher, but nevermind.

Overall, Eastern Emeralds Megaways is perfect for fans of the original, and perfect for Megaways fans too. It’s a true culmination of an old favourite with modern innovation and we think players will enjoy it.
