Gladiator Legends Betting and Symbols

Hacksaw Gaming give players a variety of betting options for players to choose from, and it’s no different in Gladiator Legends. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin. During both the base game and free spins rounds, VS symbols can present themselves on the reels. The VS symbols are special symbols that expand into Duel Reels once they are active.

Each Duel Reel has two unique Wild Multipliers, each represented by a Gladiator. Once active, these Gladiators will challenge each other in a duel abd the surviving Gladiator’s Wild Multiplier will be applied to the entire reel.

Base Game VS Symbols

During the base game, VS symbols will only expand into Duel Reels if the reel it is present on is part of at least one winning combination once expanded.

In the base game, Duel Reels are Wild and can present themselves with or without a Multiplier. The Multipliers that can be awarded are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 75x and 100x.

If more than one active Duel Reel with a Multiplier connect via a win line, both Multipliers will add together before mutliplying the value of the win.

Landing 1 VS symbol on each of the 5 reels and triggering Duel Reels, means that all reels will be treated as Wilds.

Free Spins VS Symbols

During the free spins rounds, VS symbols will always expand and become Duel Reels. The awarded Multiplier values change dramatically compared to the base game.

The Champions of the Arena Bonus Game is a mode with 3 Free Spins. Every time you get a VS symbol, then the number resets to 3 once more. 

This Bonus continues until you get three non-winning spins in a row. 

In this bonus you’ll notice a Multiplier atop each reel. To increase the multiplier you’ll want VS symbols, which triggers a battle between two warriors with differing multipliers.

The multipliers for both are the same, but the normal coin only affects the corresponding reel that it lands on, whereas the epic coin affects all reels. 

Gladiator Legends Free Spins – Unleash The Beast! 

The Unleash the Beast Free Spins mode also starts with 3 Free Spins, and landing a VS symbol also resets the counter back to 3, but there are some key differences between the two bonus rounds. 

In this bonus, you have reel Multipliers on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5. The Reel Multipliers accumulate the values of duel multipliers from the corresponding reels for the duration of the entire bonus, instead of replacing the value. 

In this mode you’ll notice that reel 3 is completely locked, this is the Beast Reel. The Beast Reel is unlocked when a VS symbol has landed at least once on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5. Reel 3 has a special Beast Duel with a multiplier that multipliers the other reels Duel Multipliers before they are added to the Reel Multipliers.

In classic Hacksaw Gaming fashion, there’s a Bonus Buy option for those outside of the UK once more, and a few options at that.

Gladiator Legends: Our Verdict

Gladiator Legends is a ferocious and cunning instalment from a provider that we and everyone else in the iGaming industry has come to respect very much. 

It feels like Hacksaw Gaming has taken a turn of sorts. There was a period in which they brought out some of what we believed to be a bit…boring. 

Harvest Wilds, King Carrot, Double Rainbow and Tasty Treats fail to stand out, but perhaps we just like the edge? 

The Bowery Boys and Wanted Dead or A Wild adopted the same sort of grit that you’ll see in Gladiator Legends, and in our minds that’s where Hacksaw Gaming excels. 

Gladiator Legends can be excruciatingly brutal, which isn’t untypical of Hacksaw Gaming slots. If you’re buying the bonus, then you’ll probably want to think carefully about which option it is that you go for. 

The Champions of the Area Reel Multiplier replacement feature is immersive in a way, because when it swaps the higher multiplier for a lower one it feels like you’ve personally been stabbed and lost the duel. Unleash the Beast feels a little more forgiving with its persistent multiplier, but the price tag attached to it is a lot higher. Of course, if you’re in the UK then you take what you can get. 

Overall, Gladiator Legends is a brilliant instalment and a fine example of Hacksaw’s ingenuity. We’d take up arms for a spin on this game, and we feel like readers will feel the same way.
