King Carrot Slot Review 2021

Hacksaw Gaming are trading in their sugary treats for something a little healthier in their newest release, King Carrot!

The Dentist was less than impressed with Hacksaw Gaming’s more recent release Tasty Treats, but with the help of some seriously adorable Fruit & Veggies, Hacksaw Gaming has seen the error of their ways and have opted for a healthier alternative instead.

Hacksaw Gaming are the masterminds behind some of the more popular slot titles like, Chaos Crew, Rocket Reels and Cubes 2, but how will King Carrot fair against these?

Will the savoury King Carrot best its sweet sister slots that came before it?

King Carrot Base Game

King Carrot Theme

King Carrot wouldn’t be the first from Hacksaw Gaming to have a food theme, and perhaps it won’t be the last.

King Carrot has a very feel-good cartoony theme to it. It’s worlds away from the gritty Chaos Crew and you’d find it hard to believe that both were from the same provider. King Carrot looks nice, and happy, and upbeat, but it doesn’t really wow much aesthetically.

Hacksaw Gaming Slots are generally quite amazing, but sometimes they do feature quite a generic looking theme.

King Carrot Betting and Symbols

King Carrot has a variety of betting options for you to choose form. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.20 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with a choice of betting options in between the two.

The highest paying regular symbol in King Carrot is the Carrot, followed by the Blueberry, Lemon, Apple and Watermelon which all have the same pay value. Lower paying symbols fall to the Grape, Pear, Plum and Strawberry which also have the same pay value.

Wild symbols substitute for all higher and lower paying symbols.

The King Carrot and the Epic King Carrot symbols substitute for all Carrot symbols.

King Carrot Base Game and Features

King Carrot is a 7×7 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. In order to form a win, you will need to connect 5 or more of the same symbols, either Vertically or Horizontally on the grid.

Hacksaw Gaming has thrown in some super tasty features in King Carrot that will definitely shine some light on an otherwise wilting base game. Special King Carrot and Epic King Carrot symbols certainly rule the roost and the Bird Attack feature keeps those terrified little fruits in check.

King Carrot Symbol

Each time a King Carrot symbol lands in the Base Game and Free Spins, a random lower paying symbol is chosen at random to be replaced.

All instances of the selected lower paying symbol will transform into Carrot symbols.

If you’re lucky enough to land multiple King Carrot symbols at one time, more than one lower paying symbol will be chosen at random to be replaced.

Each time a King Carrot symbol lands, you will automatically be awarded a free Respin.

Epic King Carrot Symbol

During the King Carrot feature, between 1 and 3 Epic King Carrot symbols may appear, replacing an existing Carrot symbol.

Each Epic King Carrot symbol triggers a Multiplier that will drop on a randomly selected Carrot symbol. All Multiplier symbols can have a value of either 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x or 100x.

Awarded Multipliers will only affect a winning combination of Carrot symbols and will Multiply the winning cluster with the Multiplier value.

If 2 or more Multipliers land on the same winning combination, the Multiplier values will first be added together and then awarded to the winning combination.

Bird Attack Feature

During any random spin in the base game, the Bird Attack feature will happen once you see the bird shadow appear across the reels.

Once active, the hungry bird will swoop in and remove either a row or column of symbols to make way for new symbols to fall in.

The bird removes at least one and up to all rows and/or columns. During this feature, all Wild and Scatter symbols that are present will not be removed.

King Carrot: Carrot Carnage Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols during the base game, triggers the Carrot Carnage Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins.

During Free Spins, all symbols that are transformed by the King Carrot symbol will remain like this for the remainder of Free Spins. Like the King Carrot feature in the base game, once a King Carrot symbol lands in view, you will automatically be awarded a free Respin.

The aim of the game is to turn as many symbols into King Carrot Symbols as possible.

King Carrot Bonus Buy

For those who are outside the UK, you may benefit from a Bonus Buy option.

This can be purchased for 110x your current bet.

The RTP when purchasing Free Spins increases slightly from 96.30% to 96.41%.

King Carrot Our Verdict

We initially judged King Carrot as just another of Hacksaw Gaming’s cluster pays pocketz slots, and we’re sort of right.

There’s a 50/50 chance that you can king of guess what Hacksaw are going to create, and sometimes it does come across as dull. When we started playing King Carrot however, we realised that we were judging it too harshly.

King Carrot may be another Cluster Pays, but the King Carrot Features breathes fresh life into something that we thought was going to be the definition of generic. During testing, we actually collected every single symbol during Carrot Carnage, which meant that EVERY SINGLE SPIN was a full screen of Carrots that paid 500x minimum. When multipliers were thrown in, this increased dramatically, and the exciting aspect of King Carrot became evident.

Of course, there were about 5 or 6 bad bonuses to every 1 good one, but that’s just slots for you.

Overall, Hacksaw Gaming may have gone in a predictable direction with their latest release, but 10,000x win potential and a few twists and turns makes it hard to ignore.
