King’s Mask Slot Review 2024
We’re jetting off to Egypt in a bid to retrieve the Golden Mask of King Tut, where unimaginable power and untold riches are just within our grasp, in Play’n GO’s latest release, King’s Mask!
Out of all the Egyptian Pharoahs, there is a reason why King Tutankhamun is the most famous of them all. Legend has it that whoever gets their hands on the Golden Mask of King Tut, will be awarded with some serious power and many riches that comes with being a worthy Pharoah.
King Tutankhamun (also known as King Tut), was the last of his family to rule during the 18th Dynasty. His magnificent Gold Mask was eventually discovered by Howard Carter in 1925, and to this day, it still fascinates many.
Play’n GO’s popular Egyptian series is expanding once more, with the King’s Mask being one in a long line of many added to the collection, but will it be a successful edition? King’s Mask is destined to stand the test of time, being an ideal choice for both new and experienced players.
In terms of theme, King’s Mask has pretty much everything you would expect to see in an Egyptian slot. The background is definitely appealing, with dazzling Gold trinkets and riches on either side, along with beautiful Egyptian pillars that stand elegantly. High-paying symbols each represent a different Egyptian symbol and the Scatter resembles a Gold Pyramid, which is all very fitting with the theme.
There isn’t much that can be said about an Egyptian themed slot that hasn’t been said before, but will King’s Mask be the one to change that? Let’s play on and find out!
King’s Mask Base Game and Features
King’s Mask is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more (or 2 or more of the 2 highest paying symbols) from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other option in between the two.
In terms of symbols, the 2 highest paying symbols in King’s Mask is the Scarab and the Eye of Horus, followed by Bastet, Lotus and the Ankh. Low paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitute for all symbols except Scatters. The Wild symbol will always appear with a x2 Multiplier, which is applied to all winnning paylines.
As far as features go, the base game in King’s Mask certainly lacks in that department. The only kind of excitement on offer in the base game is the Wild symbols, which doesn’t sound that great but landing a full line of 5, can award a whopping 500x your current bet! Even with the help of Multiplier Wilds, this may not be enough to entice you to stay.
King’s Mask Free Spins
Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 5x, 20x or 100x respectively. Once Free Spins are triggered, you will be met with 3 Free Spins options to choose from, these are as follows.
- 15 Free Spins with a x3 Multiplier.
- 10 Free Spins with a x5 Multiplier.
- 5 Free Spins with a x10 Multiplier.
Landing 3 or more Scatters in any position, awards additional Free Spins equal to the amount of Free Spins chosen for the inital trigger. The amount of Free Spins that can be awarded is capped at 300. Multiplier Wilds are active during thr Free Spins round.
King’s Mask: Our Verdict
Since Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead, it seems Play’n GO has been on a mission to recreate the success of these two titles by flooding the slots market with quite a few Egyptian slots, but do any of them really come close? That’s for you to decide.
King’s Mask isn’t a terrible offering from Play’n GO, the graphics are great and the overall design is pretty, but the overused theme and lack of base game features may just enough to deter players from giving it a go. The base game may not have thrilling features to fall back on, but there is some positive aspects about King’s Mask.
The Multiplier Wild symbols may seem basic, but they can definitely pack a punch when they want to by connecting more than one Multiplier Wild to a winning combination, especially if it’s a Higher paying symbol.
In addition to this, there is plenty of potential to be had, not only in the Free Spins round but before it’s even started, with Scatters paying a cash value per bet, up to 100x. Things get a little interesting when Free Spins are awarded, where players will be given the choice between 3 options, all of which feature a win Multiplier and a fair amount of Free Spins.
In terms of statistics, King’s Mask looks pretty decent with an above average RTP of 96.28% and an equally pleasing maximim win capacity of 10,000x. Players who are a big fan of Play’n GO’s Egyptian series, will definitely appreciate King’s Mask and the statistics that come with it.
