Millionaire Rush Slot Review 2022

Big Time Gaming is back with another take on their popular ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ series, in Millionaire Rush!

We’ve all played that game where we imagine we’ve won millions and we go round saying all the things we’d spend the money on, but what are the odds of that actually happening? Pretty much non-existent we’d imagine, but one can dream. Millionaire Rush may not be able to make you a Millionaire, but it has the potential to make you wealthy thanks to the 55,060x maximum win capacity!

You may be familiar with the game show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ that was originally hosted by Chris Tarrant from 1998 to 2014, which then saw Jeremy Clarkson take over. Since then, Who Wants to be a Millionaire proved to be a huge success with viewers that a spin-off was ordered in 2022 named ‘Fastest Finger First’.

Like the other ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ titles, Millionaire Rush has a similar background, colour scheme and layout. There are some obvious changes to the reel set given the fact that Millionaire Rush uses the popular MegaClusters mechanic, but for the most-part Millionaire Rush pretty much follows suit.

It’s not the first time we’ve come face to face with the MegaClusters mechanic, thanks to BTG’s Star Clusters Megaclusters, but will this make a nice addition to the ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ series? Let’s play on and find out!

Millionaire Rush Base Game

Millionaire Rush Base Game and Features

Millionaire Rush is a 5×5 Video Slot with a Cluster Pays mechanic. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 5 or more of the same symbol types in any position on the reels. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€8 per spin, with a small selection of betting options in between the two.

The Megaclusters mechanic works differently to the standard cascading ways we’re used to seeing. Every time a win occurs, each winning symbol will be replaced by 4 smaller symbols. If winning combinations are formed using the smaller symbols, all symbols that are the same size above them will collapse down and fill all empty positions on the grid.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Miliionaire Rush is the Purple Gem, followed by the Red and Blue Gems. Low-paying symbols fall to Green, Orange, Yellow and Light Blue Gems. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitutes for all High and Low paying symbols.

Millionaire Rush has a very appealing Mega Trail feature in both the base game and Free Spins round, which delivers some pretty impressive Modifiers. More on this below!

Mega Trail

On the left side of the reel set sits the Mega Trail, which is made up of 12 individual sections. Each of the 12 sections of the Mega Trail is randomly determined at the start of each base game spin. Each time a reaction occurs, you will move 1 position up the Mega Trail.

The Mega Trail contains a Cash Prize of up to 1,000x your bet, plus section 7 awards 6 Free Spins. In addition to this, a minimum of 3 random Modifiers will be added to the Mega Trail on different sections, these are as follows.

  • Wilds – Awards up to 10 Wilds in random positions.
  • Multiplier Wilds – Multiplier Wilds are added to the grid with a Multiplier up to x5.
  • Symbol to Wild – Every instance of the chosen symbol will be transformed into Wilds.
  • Mega Wild – A grid of 4 Wilds will be added to the grid. (2 grids of Wilds are added during Free Spins)

Miliionaire Rush Mega Trail Feature

Millionaire Rush Free Spins

Millionaire Rush does not have any kind of Scatters in the base game, so if you’re after some Free Spins you will need to earn them by reaching Section 7 on the Mega Trail, which awards 6 Free Spins.

Once active, an enhanced Mega Trail is awarded with a Cash prize of up to 2,000x your bet on Section 12. During the Free Spins round, if you manage to reach Section 7 on the Mega Trail, you will be awarded an additional +3 Free Spins. In additon to this, the remaining sections on the Mega Trail will take on a random Modifier, up to 6 in total.

Millionaire Rush: Our Verdict

Well there’s no denying that Millionaire Rush is the best of the series so far! The Megaclusters mechanic really brings out the best in this slot, along with the extensive Modifiers on offer. Although Millionaire Rush is evidently part of the ‘Who Wants to be a Miliionaire’ series, you wouldn’t have guessed just by reading the title. Regardless of its branding, Millionaire Rush would still be a worthy choice in our opinion.

Accessing both the Free Spins round and Modifiers can be a little tricky at times, but once you finally reach the first one the grind starts to pay off.

The Megaclusters mechanic isn’t exactly to everyone’s taste though. Unlike the Megaways Mechanic, the Megaclusters is yet to pull in the kind of audience that Megaways did, and still continues to do.

Despite this, statistics alone would make a compelling case for Millionaire Rush and the Megaclusters Mechanic in general. 55,060x is the maximum win potential in this particular instalment, which puts it considerably higher than most Megaways slots.

Overall, if you’re a fan of the the Millionaire series from Big Time Gaming and you’re open to something new, then Millionaire Rush certainly isn’t a bad choice.
