Moon Spirit Hold & Win Slot Review 2021

iSoftBet

continue their tirade of Hold & Win titles with their latest entry to the series, Moon Spirit Hold & Win.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win looks to bring forward a more spiritual aspect to their Hold and Win Series with a focus on the Moon which was of paramount importance in Native American Culture. The Moon was assigned names depending on the month which helped them to sleep track of the seasons, with names like Full Sturgeon Moon, Full Beaver Moon and Full Strawberry Moon for the months of August, November and June.

It’s a fascinating take on a bygone era for sure, but can Moon Spirit Hold & Win fascinate in the most important aspect? With a somewhat overused Hold & Win mechanic, we’re not entirely convinced that it can. However, in the interest of fairness, let’s dive in and keep an open mind as we explore iSoftBet’s latest slot.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Base Game

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Theme

iSoftBet do well to embody the spirit of Native America through visuals and audio in their latest slot.

The reel borders themselves are totem poles, and the North American prarie is visible behind them. In terms of audio, Moon Spirit Hold & Win could be described as both peaceful and spiritual, which is exactly the kind of vibe iSoftBet were looking to portray.

In a way, Moon Spirit reminds us somewhat of Play’n GO’s Thunderscreech, but we think iSoftBet did it better with superior graphics.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Betting and Symbols

Moon Spirit Hold & Win offers players a variety of betting options. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £0.30 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is a whopping £300 per spin, with a choice of betting options in between the two.

The highest paying regular symbol in Moon Spirit Hold & Win is the Chief Elder, followed by the Tribe Lady, the Bear, the Eagle and the Deer. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Scatter symbols. Wild symbols can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 and will multiply wins by x2.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Base Game and Features

Moon Spirit Hold & Win is a 5 reel slot with 243 ways to win. To form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game in Moon Spirit Hold & Win doesn’t give us much in terms of excitement, we can agree that this game is satisfying visually but you may consider the base game a little dull in comparison.  iSoftBet has not often been one to disappoint when it comes to features and thankfully they’ve thrown one into the mix here, even though we come across Mystery symbols more often than not, its certainly better than nothing.

Moon Mystery Spin

During any random spin, the Moon Mystery Spin feature can trigger.

Stacked symbols can be seen spinning through the reels and any that land will reveal the same regular symbol at the end of the spin.

Although this feature has been seen quite frequently in other slot games and there is nothing particularly unique about it, this feature can deliver huge potential if you are lucky enough to land a substantial amount of Mystery symbols.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Respins

During the base game, landing 5 or more Moon Scatters on any of the reels will trigger the Dreamcatcher Hold & Win Respins, awarding 3 Respins.

Each dreamcatcher that lands in view will become sticky and remain locked on the reel, resetting the Respins back to 3.

At the start of Respins, all dreamcatchers will start at Level 1. Each time a new dreamcatcher lands in view, any adjacent dreamcatcher symbols will upgrade in level.

  • Green – Level 1 – Cash values or Mini Totems.
  • Purple – Level 2 – Cash values or Major Totems.
  • Red – Level 3 – Casj values or Grand Totems.

When the Respins come to an end, the Spirit Wind will reveal the dreamcatcher prizes for each level.

The higher the dreamcatcher level, the more the cash prizes increase.

Totem Awards

In additon to the cash prizes, Totem prizes can also be awarded by collecting one of three Jackpot amounts.

  • Mini – Awards 20x your bet.
  • Major – Awards 100x your bet.
  • Grand – Awards 1,000x your bet.

It’s nice to have an element of suprise within the bonus round, other slot titles that feature the Hold & Win Respins usually reveal the cash prizes as soon as they land but that is not the case here. The dreamcatchers keep us on the edge of our seats the entire time, only revealing themselves at the end of Respins.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Respins

Moon Spirit Hold & Win Our Verdict

It seems that Hold & Win is becoming increasingly popular with providers and iSoftBet has fallen into that trend, with most of their new releases based around this feature.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win is nothing out of the ordinary in terms of theme, we’ve seen this kind of theme run through quite a few slot titles before this and its become a little overrated in our opinion. Although the base game does have a Mystery symbol feature that players will enjoy, it’s just not enough to keep us stimulated.

Moon Spirit Hold & Win has a bang on average of 96.00% RTP and a max win capacity of 6,480x which isn’s exactly the worst we’ve seen but its not the best either.

We were quite suprised in the Moon Spirit Hold & Win bonus round, the dreamcatchers only revealing their worth at the end of Respins is unique and very thrilling, which definitely gives the game the boost of excitement it needs. Sadly that seems to be the only thing exciting about this game.

All in all, if you’re looking for a game that grips you from start to finish, we’d advise looking elsewhere.
